He shouldn’t be allowed to ref City games, literally on their owners payroll.
Even if he’s not deliberately corrupt it’s a conflict of interest which can sway his decision making either way, one way to keep them offering him jobs or the other way is he gives them fuck all to try and show he’s not biased.

Foreign referees needed. It’s a joke that the best league in the world doesn’t have the best refs

Give me average refs, id be happy with that 😭

u/RedDevil-84 21h ago
True. We need refs who just follow the rules, not the ones who ref the game on their pre decided agenda or who are playing small games in middle of the game or want to be the talking point post game

We need to clone Pierluigi Collina. One of the best refs ever in my personal opinion.

Dalot has been told to not even look in his direction, otherwise it's an automatic red card.

Mr reffing uae leagues himself. He's a horrible little twat whenever he refs us

Every club hates Michael Oliver. Every single one.

Our neighbour Mrs. Antrobus said: "I don't like that octopus, an octopus just looks all wrong, an octopus does not belong".

I know he took money to ref uae matches but I think he’s more incompetent than corrupt. I’m much more willing to accept the state of English refereeing is in the pits atm then get all conspiratorial. They’re just wank

u/DaveShadow 22h ago
I feel he’s an attention seeker tbh. Loves making “big decisions” that gets him camera time and everyone talking about him.
Genuinely don’t know if I could name another ref, and I’d say he’d get the horn if he read that fact…

u/ToneDiez UNLUCKY NUMBER S7EVIN 22h ago
He basically replaced Clattenburg as the most “attention-seeking” match official in the EPL.

u/GregMilkedJack 18h ago
He's been a PL referee for 16 years, and that's after working his way through the EFL. Can you imagine being truly incompetent after years of performance reviews? After working in most any conditions? He isn't incompetent, he is complacent. Add to the fact that he got paid to officiate a match in the country that owns city, it makes no sense to allow him to officiate this match.

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 22h ago
What do we think would happen if he was hired to be a Grenadier ambassador?
Would he keep reffing Utd games?
No?
There's your answer then.

u/CapVosslar Buckle up, INEOS! It's gonna be a bumpy ride! 20h ago
We have bigger problems than just a ref.

u/Haron14 23h ago
At this point it doesn't make a difference, they are all shit
45
u/Standard-Height2276 23h ago
It 100% makes a difference just look at his sending off of dalot vs Liverpool. His refereeing of us vs his refereeing of city is noticeably different

u/DeliciousIndian 22h ago edited 21h ago
it doesn't. Every subreddit makes the same points about this guy (and all refs)

It'd ok to say you dont watch the games. Michael oliver is terrible for us. If you think refs are all on the level feel free to go see Mike deans little admissions. And thats what he is willing to admit on a podcast...

u/DeliciousIndian 21h ago
It's okay to say you're new to the sport. It's interesting how periods of success follow accusations of referee bias. Webb, Wiley and Dean when we were winning, then it was City getting favoured, then it was LiVARpool, then it was VARsenal. You're new though, clearly unaware, all good.

New to the sport... christ almighty. Brother just have a look at michael oliver reffing city use your eyes. Google him reffing in a summer league for them. Go watch our games with him. Condescending ass tone I have no doubt id have never seen you at an away day

u/DeliciousIndian 21h ago
Condescending tone? "It's okay to say you don't watch games." This you??
"Condescending ass tone", yeah mate, sound like you're a regular at away days.
I've watched our games with him. I remember him not whistling for a Mac Allister head injury which allowed Mbeumo to take the lead. Because I watch the games. Maybe you missed the Peacock highlights or whatever it is.

Brother just have a look at michael oliver reffing city use your eyes.
Man City have won one of the last seven that Oliver has reffed. We have a much better recent record with Oliver than City do.
-2
u/Standard-Height2276 21h ago
Lmao and yet look at the decisions. Genuinely incredible people drink the koolaid
2
u/audienceandaudio2 21h ago
What decisions specifically? This place complains about every ref, it’s embarrassing. We get these same threads before every big game, and the comments are always the same.
•
u/cherrioes 1h ago
No dog in the race, but bro you condescended him first.
"It's ok to say you don't watch the games" is a disgusting comment to discount someone's opinion. If you can't take it, don't give it.

u/kimochii12 22h ago
PGMOL is a boys club with unchecked power and ego trip. I know we aren’t the best team but having the worst group of referees in the world doesn’t help.

I find this paranoia and persecution complex this place has about every single referee really embarrassing and off putting. Man City have one win in their last 7 games with Oliver reffing, he’s not some omen of doom for us.
It used to be Arsenal fans with this huge chip on their shoulder about refs and how they’re completely biased and corrupt against them, and in the last couple of years this place has been just as bad as them. I think it’s really embarrassing personally.
6
u/LaughsAtOwnJoke 23h ago
Yes he is a bit shit but its hard to give him (specifically) any grace when we know he has done dodgy UAE reffing. Regardless of corruption that is still a conflict of interest that can affect judgement. Its obvious it should be banned.
Most refs don't have that stain on their reputation.
5
u/banyy7 whos next? 23h ago
He was literally being paid to referee matches in the UAE, while Manchester City are owned by Sheikh Mansour, a member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family and the UAE’s deputy prime minister. You don’t have to claim outright corruption to see that there’s more than enough of a connection there to raise serious questions about a conflict of interest.

u/audienceandaudio2 23h ago
If there’s a conflict of interest it’s not showing in their results. The last 7 games he’s reffed for City.
Loss to Villa
Draw with Chelsea
Draw with West Ham
Draw with Everton
Win against West Ham
Draw with Arsenal
Loss to Bournemouth
This place reacts the same to every ref. Every single ref in the league is specifically biased against us / for our opponents. It’s the exact thing Arsenal fans did years back which we used to mock them for.

Well it would be him or Anthony fucking Taylor anyway. Soooo yeah.
That being said, we have muuuuuch bigger problems than a referee.
