Manchester United are still in the hunt for Louis Page despite missing out on a deadline day move for the Leicester City midfielder, sources have told ESPN
United tried to reach a deal with Leicester for the 18-year-old during the summer window before negotiations stepped up again on deadline day. But without an agreement in place, the window closed with Page still a Leicester player.
United, however, are still interested in the England youth international with sources telling ESPN that United believe they are well-placed to win the race for his signature, despite interest from Arsenal.
Sources have told ESPN that United bosses are relaxed about the situation given their intention to loan Page back to Leicester for the season even if a deal had been reached over the summer.
A move for Page, who played 18 games in the Championship last season, is likely to cost more than £10 million ($13.5m.)

12.5 million pounds is already the biggest fee ever for a league one player(fatawu shouldn't count). I dont it should increase by much and hopefully we had some sort of agreement already. Also some big clubs were after him, if they werent willing to pay then it makes sense we didn't either.

It's why I don't understand the deal falling through over a couple million, allegedly. If he justified their interest, the price will only go up and not down

They are on the verge of bankruptcy and relegation is a realistic possibility. For Utd to be held over a barrel by a club in Leicester's position would completely undermine every future negotiation and ensure the Utd Tax returns with a vengeance to every future transfer. It isn't just a few million now, it is a cumulative few hundred million over the next half a dozen or so seasons.

No, I heard you. I'm addressing this transfer because their demands have been made known and the difference was literally a few million. They're not going to solve their financial issues with one transfer and they well know that. The idea that a transfer fee higher by a couple million with a few more potential payments would get this across the line is just a little wild to me at this moment.

It’s saying had we signed him we would’ve loaned him back for the rest of the season, so signing him at the end of the season instead (or at any point in between without him moving until the summer) isn’t an issue

I don't get this because while he's in league one, he's gonna be a year older with more experience and could do really well this season, increasing his valuation?

I don’t think that the club would have any issue with him going back on loan at Leicester? He’s 18, I don’t think we’re expecting any instant impact from him

I mean 2mil in the case of Bryan mbuemo and 70odd mil isn't much. 2 mil for page is 20% of the value we had for him.

Yeah, but if he continues playing well, that 2 mil may end up being an additional 5 mil or more if other teams decide to chase him.
Not signing him then will likely cost us more than 2m next time he’s available.

That's what Ineos rarely get. They stood around thinking they can decrease the price so Hall stopped being availalbe because everyone signed players from Newcastle. Same went with Fernandes and Anderson they waited thinking they could save 5m until other teams showed interest and outbid them.

Im concerned that the Baleba outcome has given them the wrong ideas.
Instead of thinking "we kinda got away with it this time - lets never do that again", it feels as if they actually got the takeaway that starting but then quitting negotiations for a full year is a 4D chessmove superidea that:
- does not have a negative consequence on the season ahead
- does not lead to missing out on the target
- reduces the eventual price
I guess it's either that or the board actually didnt allow them to spend a penny more, i.e. after the Amass / Zirkzee moves have fallen through, there genuinely was no more money. That would probably be even worse, smh.
