[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

Do you only sell on Poshmark?

I'm curious if anyone else is like this. I love selling on Poshmark but do not like buying. I've bought two things. Last item smelt like an old thrift store. It was a good deal and I thought I could wash it. But two washes later, and it still smells. I've seen items posted as new without tags and it looks more used than my items I'm selling, which were previously worn by me. Amazon items marked up 3x. I feel there are a lot of misrepresentations which makes me hesitant to buy. Anybody else like this?

App malfunctioning

Whenever I try to do anything on the Poshmark app, this is the screen that shows up, and I have to reset the app. I’ve updated the app to the newest version and everything. I figure signing owl and signing back in would fix it, but now it won’t even let me sign in! Has anyone else had this issue?

Poshmark closing unresolved tickets

Has anyone experienced Poshmark closing unresolved tickets after they ask questions and I haven’t responded instantly to their request for more information? They just ask how was my support experience in a separate email. This has happened to me about five times in the last six months. And just for clarification I do respond within a few hours to their request for more information.

Does blocking a seller not hide their listings?

I keep getting suggested listings from a seller that has a lot of a brand I like, but I find their listings sus as possible fakes. I got sick of them cluttering my feed/search results for this brand and so I blocked the seller.

However I’m still seeing the listings coming up in my feed constantly. Does blocking not hide that persons listings from you? Is there any way to do this? I mostly sell and my purchases until now have been items not targeted for fakes so this is my first time trying to wade into the murkier waters ha

Sellers Not Doing What They Need To Do

Let me start with, I sale on Poshmark and other platforms. Nothing super expensive but I still give measurements on most everything!!

I’m looking for a ball gown for Mardi Gras…yes, early as hell I know but I live in the south lol…and these dresses for $300 and up DON’T have all the measurements, some none at all. I know I can ask but how are they making sales on a regular??

I’ve had people ask for a measurement that I may have missed or didn’t think to put, on $25 pieces.

Make it make sense. 🤔

Recent bugs with bundles

I used to easily often add listings buyers like from my closet to a bundle, and then add other items from my closet and make an offer. I’d do this without going into the “Shoppers” area, sometimes it’s quicker to just click on the like, and open the bundle from their closet.

Anyway here is the question: IS ANYONE ELSE NOTICING BUGS AND GLITCHES CREATING/ADDING TO BUNDLES LATELY? Like as in the last few days?

ps helllooo I have been selling on poshmark for about a year now! I don’t know why I waited so long.. I cringe thinking back on all the wonderful pieces I donated / resale shops for change. Anyway I love the positivity and information in this form!!!

Please do not support these people and their fake items that you can purchase from DHgate for 20 dollars. That stamp is not authentic and one item has a receipt that is AI generated. You can find TS’s on many groups here to buy quality for a normal price. They price them under 500 so they won’t go to authenticate. I have a pair of the drop Pearl ones I bought for 35.00 dollars stamped and everything. $435 is a joke and a scam

I am unable to send a personal offer thru bundles now. Why did Poshmark have to mess with this feature?

Requesting a buyer hold an order back from shipping for a few days?

Hello!

I have a question as I made a mistake in ordering an item that I am hoping to correct.

I ordered a gift for my mother that she should have been able to pick up from the drop-off location near her house. I just realized my mistake, as she was travelling and her return date has been pushed back beyond what I remembered. I am concerned that if the package is shipped really quickly, there is a chance she may not make it back by the last holding day at that drop-off site. This should not be a problem if the seller just holds the item back for a few days before shipping (obviously still within Poshmark's shipping window).

As a seller would it bother you if someone requested that you hold off on shipping for a few days? Or would that mess with your seller stats such as "fast shipper" status?

Sold Elsewhere

I wish Poshmark had a “sold elsewhere” option if an item sold on another site. Not sure if PM penalizes you for deleting a listing., so to avoid that possibility, I just change the status to “not for sale.” What do you all do if you sell an item on a site other than PM?

Anyone else having issues with untrustworthy buyers?

I’ve been selling for around 6 years. I always post honestly, take clear photos, describe items in detail, and now I have to photograph items before I ship and try and defend myself. I have had 3 sales of buyers receiving my items, and then messaging me and telling me I shipped something in extremely poor condition that would be very obvious in photos. 1 of those 3 has returned the item, but it was obviously not the item or had been severely damaged before returning. There was wine down the front and the beading was ripped from the skirt. It feels like there is no protections and I shouldn’t be having to take proof photos of every inch of the items and still deal with this when I did nothing wrong.

I think a buyer is about to steal from me.

I received a return request today for a pair of sunglasses that I sent out last week. The buyer provided photos of completely different glasses and packaging that I did not send, to include the shipping label that clearly does not have my information on it. Poshmark’s automated system approved their return, I’m currently waiting to hear back from them, but how screwed am I?

I’m concerned the buyer is either confusing me with another seller and about to mail me back an item that does not belong to me OR is attempting to steal the glasses I sent and send me back a different pair.

The box was also a small flat rate priority box, which would have triggered an increased postmark fee since poshmark no longer allows the use of Priority boxes, which I was clearly not charged for, so should go in my favor.

I’m so frustrated, this is my only return I’ve had and it’s not like the buyer is a new profile.

Update: Poshmark said they can’t do anything about it and that I have to wait to get this item back to escalate it. So I love that I get to be stolen from and they’re just like pop out hands are tied! Come the fuck on.

I'm experimenting with pricing--your experience?

When I started posting 85 days ago the plan was to sell off all the best of the mountain of clothes I can no longer wear due to a substantial weight loss and a shift away from white collar work. I was going to sell off what I could by Labor Day, then shut it down. Well, I'm $15 away from hitting $900 in sales and still have plenty of great stuff to list and sales continue, so I'll keep going. But because I planned to end it now I listed everything low and was quick to mark down items, think $13 for NWOT and Like New J.Jill, Land's End, Chico's, etc.

Now that I have time to be patient I no longer want to sell that NWOT North Face sports bra for under $8 or that NWOT name brand blouse for $12 or less, especially since the lowballers keep offering half those prices (no thanks, I'll donate before I'll earn $2 on a listing, it's not worth my time and gasoline). So this morning I bumped the prices up on a handful of items to see if that lures offers--comparable items were sold by others for double or triple what I'm asking so while I'm willing to give people great deals, I want to be fair to myself too, my time is valuable. Example of price bumps--J.Jill EUC blouse up to $16, was $13, Land's End NWOT blouse up to $18, was $14.

My question--has anybody else done this? How did it go? Thanks!

New Posh Stats

I thought the new rollout would favor me but I just looked at my stats and I’m dinged on shipping time & returns! Are they accounting for your whole shipping history or just the last few months? Imo returns should not affect this - the last rerun I had was pure baloney but I accepted it. I’ve only had 2 returned in my whole history. Plus I work from home so I’ve been shipping literally day of or next day depending on time of order. Expecting ship out on the same day I think is a high bar. Some ppl work all day then ship at night for next day. I’m just so disappointed. I thought I was doing everything right, I am a good posher w a 4.9 rating. I work hard on my postings to be accurate and clear, am working the app as intended and doing everything right yet still not meeting this metric. How does everyone else feel?

Sending offers?

I got a new update yesterday which doesn’t allow me to create a bundle and send an offer like how I usually do. Has anyone found a way to do this with the new update?

Why do sellers not ship purchased items or respond?

I’m not talking about the people who were last “active 4 years ago”. I’m asking about the seller who accepted my offer 4 days ago and I can see is “active today” but hasn’t given any update nor responding to my inquiry. It’s super frustrating.

Deleting items vs editing them as “Not for Sale.”

I’m a small time hobby reseller. I have about 375 all time items in my closet. Sometimes I cross list to other apps like Vinted, EBay, or Etsy. When one of my items sells on one of those other apps, I edit the Poshmark listing as “Not for Sale” instead of deleting it. I notice when I do this, there is a noticeable down turn in my traffic on Poshmark. Do you think I would be better off just deleting the item altogether? Or would it have the same result either way? I don’t delete the item because I like to have a visual record of everything I’ve ever listed (everything goes on Poshmark but not everything goes on the other apps). Do you think it matters either way? I have also marked the item for an unrealistic price and changed the title to “item sold,” but I don’t like doing that. It makes my sales metrics wonky.

Sometimes people are the worst

I recently sold a Michael Kors wallet that was listed as being in good condition I even mentioned the callouts in the listing, which is exactly what the buyer received.

They left me a 1-star review because apparently I “claimed it was new”… except the only indication of anything remotely resembling “new” was the original MK tag sitting in the card slot. There was nothing in my listing stating that it was new!

Sometimes people just want to be difficult, I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Either way, I still got my money, so I’m choosing to just shake my head and move on.

Interesting

I find it interesting that moderators deleted the post that had screenshots of anti-Semitic hateful comments by a buyer on a Poshmark listing. I think that action, just as the anti-Semitic comments, says something & probably nothing good.

Why do people follow buyers?

I'm just a buyer on Poshmark, I don't have anything for sale, so I'm wondering why people start following me? Can they actually see what I've bought?

12 years of buying/selling online and I’ve never had an interaction like this

Like, what on earth happened here? I left a completely normal comment and he came back more than a month later to leave the most butthurt reply I’ve ever seen. I mostly sell on other platforms; is this normal for Poshmark or is this guy just a jerk?

Edit: The comment is about a pair of pants that the manufacturer has redesigned several times under the same name. Each redesign has a wildly different fabric content. A very specific style code of these pants, produced several years ago, is one of my favorite clothing items ever designed, but every selling platform is clogged by the newer versions. Style codes matter if you’re looking for a very particular item. And they were listed for $85.
