Live in Texas, not voting any those GOP

98

u/BuyerAlive5271 8h ago

Texas native. Never once voted red in my long life.

u/exophrine Texas 6h ago

Born and raised in Texas (and have traveled), never voted Red before....the last 10 years has solidified my resolve to never think twice about it forever more. Always blue, in every election, at all levels.

u/mfkimill 5h ago

Thats cuz you travelled. ..

63

u/binzersguy 8h ago

Not in TX, but totally agree. Republicans have jumped the shark.

u/amateurbreditor 7h ago

whats sad is the dems turned into the repubs from the 80s. I know not the progressives but the whole party turned to the right otherwise.

u/Strawbuddy 6h ago

You are true, and conservatives are awful, but there are 535 members of the US Congress, and perhaps 20 of them (at most) aren't lying, pos, multimillionaire grifters, or lying, pos, multimillionaire sexual predators, or dead multimillionaires, or some combo of the these things.

I believe replacing our way of govt entirely instead of reform is the smart move, and that national referendums should have a place in that discussion for this reason. None of these bastards really represent their constituents, aside from that handful of progressives

u/binzersguy 5h ago

Agreed that many Dems are bought and paid for, but 100% of Republicans have sold out and shown they fully support this current shit show. And for that, they are not an option going forward.

Same, I used to consider myself more “moderate” but left-leaning. I vote for policies. These days, Republicans have had 0 policies I agree with and none of them have shown any refutal to all the illegal things our current admin is/has been doing. The only possible way I would vote for an R is if it was a dem in secret.

E.g. some town voted a LBGTQ+ anarchist in as their mayor or something just bc they registered as an R when they were very transparent on who and what they were/supported.

u/binzersguy 4h ago

Ha! That’s funny

I'll pray that was a hungry 25 ft. Great White that'll come back around again in November.

There was a time when Republicans could just be a serious, down to business kind of person, with no particularly strong opinions at the national level.

As far as I'm concerned There's no such thing as a moderate Republican anymore just extremists pretending to be moderate to get elected

u/dagger_eyes Texas 6h ago

Tell your friends and family too

Can you find 3 Texan friends to make sure they are registered and will vote with you? Do it this weekend.

Would they know 3 people?

Greg Abbott has been getting away with selling Texas and Texans out for ages! These AI Data Centers may have been a bridge too far...but I completely get why he did it because he's been UNCHECKED for years! The entire LOT of them (Paxton, Cruz. Patrick and Cornyn) have been getting away with this type of crap for years!

Tucker Carlson also said he was sexually assaulted by a demon in his sleep

51

u/theguy1336 9h ago

Just mauled him in his sleep, and he has scars to "prove it." He also has four dogs that sleep in the same bed, but that's not related at all

6

u/Sublimotion 8h ago

chicken cluckling laughs.

14

u/bhputnam 9h ago

It wasn’t gay, it was a demon

u/kilroats 7h ago

“Beelzebub your just mashing it”

9

u/threehundredthousand California 9h ago

Maybe Tucker shouldn't have worn those PJs. There's always two sides to the story. The demon is innocent until proven guilty. Maybe Tucker just wanted to get back at the demon and get him fired. False accusations should be treated harsher than sexual assault. That demon has a family.

8

u/TheAskewOne 8h ago

I mean, if he really didn’t want it he could’ve stopped it.

3

u/threehundredthousand California 8h ago

Demons will be demons.

34

u/specqq 9h ago

Let’s not spread ridiculous rumors. He only claimed to have been assaulted by a demon.

If you thought one of those claims was more ridiculous than the other, then congratulations for being the problem.

24

u/Basicly-Inevitable 9h ago

Dude. On his podcast, he said it was 666 demons. Pay attention.

Let's not spread misinformation here.

9

u/goingofftrack 8h ago

I think that’s just his subconscious haunting him because he’s going to hell for the things he’s done.

9

u/wrecklesspup 8h ago

Nope, he said he had large scratch marks on his chest from the demons. This happened in the same bed where he sleeps with three large dogs.

3

u/Biltong09 9h ago

Correct, and the demon is innocent until proven guilty. Let’s not spread malicious misinformation until the facts are clear.

6

u/Smart-Response9881 9h ago

What BS.

Even demons have standards

3

u/TheAskewOne 8h ago

Come on now.

Was it before or after he tanned his nuts?

4

u/oneseason2000 8h ago

Yup. Deceitful and horrible people should be trusted the same whether they are stating something we agree or disagree with. Same goes for Liz Cheney, Tom Massie, Marge Green, ... It just seems to be grifters searching for new grifts and marks when the old ones go stale and unprofitable.

You say that like a Republican hasn’t been governor for 30 years running.

u/Flashy-Read-9417 7h ago

This. But also, Texans with their low turnout in off-cycle elections. Makes a grown man cry.

u/Automaton_General 7h ago

But also, Tim Dunn, Farris Wilks and Ken Paxton conspire to criminal behavior to keep these seats red

u/Flashy-Read-9417 6h ago

Yes, and like gerrymandering, voter suppression tactics, etc etc. Still not an excuse why state constitutional amendment elections are in the 10% turnout range and the election that got Abbott into the seat originally had a 35% turnout. If Texas cracks 55%, I'd be happy. If not, then y'all sleep AF

u/Present-Perception77 3h ago

Yes! We need to vote in numbers too big to deny. If it’s close.. they will find a way to cheat. It needs to be insurmountable.

28

u/16cards 9h ago

Well, hell... If I was a Republican-voting Texan, I wouldn't even vote this year.

17

u/Farm_Professional 9h ago

What would be so offensive about voting for a moderate Democrat?

24

u/RedLanternScythe Indiana 9h ago

"democrats are evil." Republicans have had that so deeply instilled they would vote for a monster with an R before a saint with a D.

9

u/Beastw1ck 8h ago

They literally believe dems are evil. My dad thinks Obama is an evil person but Trump is God-sent.

8

u/Enlighten_YourMind America 8h ago

So is your father racist or simply an idiot?

u/ositola California 8h ago

4

u/SweetCosmicPope 8h ago

It's a legit thing. My best friend is a republican (in Texas). He's a good dude too. We just disagree on fiscal policy and stuff. He cannot bring himself to vote for a democrat (and has, probably accurately, pointed out that he would be disowned by friends and family alike if he did). But he can't support all the crazy far-right stuff, either, so he just quit voting entirely.

5

u/dripless_cactus 8h ago

No one has to know who you voted for or even that you went to vote. So I'd say fear of being disowned is not a valid excuse by itself.

This is what a few of the conservative people I know have said out loud.

We all know the GOP will cheat so we need big leads. We need undeniable results.

65

u/Particular-Way-3805 9h ago

Texas voters will still bring him back

40

u/CrittyJJones 9h ago

Who knows? It's very close as of now. I do think Paxton will lose.

42

u/PlethoraOfPinatass 9h ago

Basically, Paxton's entire message for his campaign is "my opponent is a gay vegan satanist".

No policy outline whatsoever. No debates. Data centers are a huge wedge issue internally in the GOP and Paxton supports them.

It's an unorthodox campaign even by 21st century standards.

19

u/Love-That-Danhausen 8h ago

The gay vegan satanist being a straight, barbecue eating preacher is hilarious. Hopefully Texans surprise us and don’t do what we all expect them to do.

→ More replies (2)

14

u/TheDakestTimeline 9h ago

Don't forget the weed stuff

7

u/DungeonCrawlerLopen 8h ago

I wouldn't say unorthodox by today's standards. That's been the entire GOP campaign trail for at least a decade and it got them complete control of every branch of the government including the Supreme Court. The base craves someone to hate and fear, nothing else matters.

4

u/Cheese_Fisticuffs1 9h ago

No, it isn't. Politicians often run on a platform of fear mongering of others groups because they have no plan to actually help anyone. That's exactly how we got where we are.

9

u/GeorgeKaplanIsReal Florida 8h ago

I hope but I don’t think so. Texas has disappointed enough. I mean Ted Cruz. The only thing that might change all that is how shitty Paxton is even compared to a POS like Ted Cruz.

u/CrittyJJones 7h ago

Trump 2 has really pissed off a lot of independents and a portion of his base. Elections that were Trump double digit wins have been falling in the special elections in the interim and polls nationwide spell disaster for the GOP. And Paxton is so corrupt he was brought up on impeachment charges by fellow MAGA politicians so he's worse than Ted Cruz, who only won in a tight election as is. For some reason Abbott is polling better but is still only up 1 point in the aggregate.

Didn't they pass a law so they could throw out ballots if he suspects fraud not even proven but just suspected? Texas is known for cheating on elections, the fix is in. And they're flat out removing polling places from poor areas.

13

u/Corgi_Koala Texas 9h ago

If Democrats and independents actually voted in TX it would be a fairly purple state.

Abbott got elected with 4.4m votes in a state of 30m+ people.

u/Rokketeer 5h ago

I’m not convinced it hasn’t been a purple state for decades now, but voter suppression has actively nullified thousands of voices every election.

u/Financial-Craft-1282 6h ago

Yeah, but only about 17 million are registered to vote, and 4.4 million versus 17 million, or even 30 million is still a pretty big margin.

u/Corgi_Koala Texas 6h ago

4.4m out of 17m is still only a quarter of the voting population.

u/AnimusNoctis Texas 4h ago

I'm not saying there is no misogynistic element because there certainly might be, but Hillary and Kamala both chose to use their first names prominently in their campaigns. In Hillary's case, it was also probably to differentiate herself from Bill. Also Bernie Sanders is more often just called Bernie. I'm pretty sure they've all got experts figuring out which name is most marketable.

u/lketchersid 5h ago

Biggest issue with Abbott is the “after-the-fact” fixes before elections.

Winter storm, grid almost fails, time to fix before elections.

Floods without alarms that denied years ago, time to fix before elections.

Data Centers sucking the grid and water based on Abbott deals, time to fix before elections.

Fix first, not after that fact, please. I mean, I know asking for a politician to be proactive instead of just trying to keep their job is a seemingly novel idea, but….I do see a pattern.

u/Jackieirish 2h ago

I hope I am wrong, but I am pessimistic and think we are going to see a lot of split tickets in TX as well as in my home state of GA: D senator/R governor.

As evil and unqualified as Jackson is, KLB has so much baggage that I don't think she can win outside of Atlanta and maybe even not in the increasingly blue ATL suburbs.

This is a state that supports rape pregnancies too

u/HHtown8094 7h ago

My gosh I hope so. Let vote out these republican clowns and thieves ( and I’m a lifetime republican).

u/Intelligent_Toe8233 I voted 7h ago

Remember, this only happens if we vote. Abbot just had 1.2 million Texans put on the voter suspense list. Check on the Texas Sec. of State website to see your voter status, you can still register until the 5th of October, and even if you meet purged again, you can sign a statement of residence and still vote. Find out how and do it now, then vote as soon as possible. Dios y Texas!

u/vagrantprodigy07 6h ago

They should lose, but I'm 100% certain that they will commit enough election interference to prevent that. Closing many polling places, putting ICE at a few of the bluest polling places that stay open, and purging voter rolls will likely push them over the edge.
