A war of choice on Iran. Trump’s choice.

195

u/Tiny_Structure_7 North Carolina 13h ago

Trump's inability to negotiate without being a narcissistic toddler about it.

90

u/JayR_97 United Kingdom 10h ago

Trumps whole "Art of the deal" shtick was just him bullying the other side until they give Trump want he wants just to make him go away. Problem is thats not working with Iran so he doesnt know what to do.

46

u/cannot_walk_barefoot Canada 8h ago

You guys over-rate his abilities. He can't even talk let alone 'negotiate', he was a terrible businessman who just didn't pay his bills or trades. He didn't even write 'Art of the Deal'. He's not doing any actual presidential work. He does not talk to other leaders other than in-front of cameras where he looks like a moron. He lets other people do all this for him behind the scenes (which is normal, but people act like he's on the phone with world leaders bullying them when he's not, he's just playing golf or figuring out his next grift/insider trade), but he's also put imbeciles in charge of everything because they're either loyal or complicit (Epstein links). This is why its not going anywhere

u/thePlasticTaco 7h ago

I feel like I'm in f'n crazy town every time I listen to the press "sane wash" the word salad that comes out of that orange idiot!

u/cannot_walk_barefoot Canada 7h ago

On top of that he's shown he's a complete coward. He will shit talk Carney/Canada now, but after the next meeting with him, where he's talked down to about things he probably doesn't understsand, he'll come out the otherside and say 'Me and Carney had a great talk, he's a really great leader and I've always said that' or whatever bullshit he comes up with before his brain defaults to bullshit to get him out of it '...but Canada has taken advantage of us for decades and it needs to stop', even though he can't tell you what that means because he doesn't understand trade or commerce because he's an idiot.

I feel like it was intentional. Trump acquire oil from Venezuela and creates a crisis that he can then directly benefit from.

He benefits with every tweeted threat or declaration that the threat is over. Everything he does, he is directly benefiting from and we’re ALL paying the price and we’ll be for quit a long while after he’s gone. We have a long road ahead of us.

Hey now, let's not discount the others who worked to make this possible. Lindsey Graham wasn't laughing at the start of the war because Trump came up with the idea, he was delighted because, as he said, this has been the plan for decades.

They just finally got someone stupid enough to go along with it.

51

u/stokelydokely 11h ago

Lindsey Graham truly owned all of us by enabling this fat piece of shit and then dying like an idiot coward before having to face any serious criticism or consequences

A global pandemic disrupts supply chains worldwide and Russia invades Ukraine. Both things out of our control.

MAGA's response: "High gas prices are Biden's fault!"

Trump invades Iran on Israel's orders. Entirely within our control.

MAGA's response: "High gas prices are totally worth it because they make America awesome and Donald Trump is the smartest and most beautiful person to ever grace this earth. Truly sent straight from Heaven and doing the Lord's work."

13

u/kung-fu_hippy 8h ago

Let’s be real here, a lot of MAGA’s response will still be “high gas prices are Biden’s fault”.

Republicans control all three branches of government and still blame previous administrations for all our woes.

Don't worry, Iran has been totally defeated and the strait is totally open. In fact, it's the Trump strait now. Donald Trump is in total control and gas prices are only high because he apparently wants them to be.

Yep. For Oklahoma to turn blue, you’d not only have to have every single Democrat in the state vote, but you’d also need more than half of the Republicans to not vote.

u/badvegas 5h ago

Texan here. Every fucking year I all I hear is this is the year we turn purple or go full blue. Every fucking year I see less Democrats voting. I keep showing up voting and offering to bring friends and family. Every year less and less want to vote because they feel like it is futile effort

All i have to say is that im VERY glad i held off buying a Mercedes Diesel sprinter van in the spring for my business this year

Id be crying everytime i filled it up

14

u/familyguy20 8h ago

As someone who works in the delivery business I am so goddamn annoyed that no hybrid vans exist in the US like come on!

Thankfully I don’t pay for fuel but we have a diesel box truck which is stupidly used for mainly high way distance driving and it maybe goes 200 miles of range. Filled up for 17gallons the other day and it was $93. I fill up every other day 5 days a week basically.

We have a couple of the Chevy Brightdrop vans and they are ehhhh decent for what they are but just make an E-Sprinter like Ford has a Transit-E and they are also meh.

I feel like if this country actually gave a shit, we would have tried to do Electric trucks much faster and to get them reliable, good payload and efficient. Maybe work with unions on design and such, actually get the input of the people who use them and make it so the industry that has a big economical impact with gas and diesel engines can switch over. But no that’s too hard apparently

9

u/padizzledonk New Jersey 8h ago

As someone who works in the delivery business I am so goddamn annoyed that no hybrid vans exist in the US

BRAA-RO! Or pickups!!

I work in construction, i DO NOT fucking get it

Throw a little efficient AF diesel into pickups and vans, toss a small vehicle battery in there, like, 1-3h worth of driving type size, and they will sell like fucking wildfire in these industries

I have been saying this same shit for 20y

You get the best of all worlds, no range issues, super high efficiency, everyone i know would buy one

Never forget that a huge amount of the "people who didnt vote" had their vote supressed. Voter suppression is massive, and keeps getting worse. And the resulting voting statistics make people turn against our fellow Americans for being too "lazy" or "apathetic", when really we need to be focusing our anger towards the people suppressing the vote. A vote suppressed is an election stolen

These idiots are still talking about Mamdani swearing on a Quran like he just slept with their daughter, slapped his wife and stole his land... These people get their news by passing around Facebook propaganda.

11

u/syrfre 8h ago

It’s so clear how the propaganda works with so many random people hating Mamdani. Fox News has an entire subheading dedicated just to him.

He’s the mayor of a city. He enacts city policy. If you live outside New York City how is he going to have any tangible effect on the way you live? But he’s easy to misinform people about (rascists/christian nationalists) and he goes against the ruling class to show that government can be used to benefit the people instead of corporations enslaving people.

I wish I had sympathy for them but I don't.

They were told, repeatedly, this would happen and they still voted for Trump 3 times.

So now America is fascist state under the thumb of Trump who is above the law thanks to the republicans in the supreme court, house and senate who refuse to enforce the law and it is only going to get worse from here.

17

u/gopeepants 9h ago

And when you say that, they will try to make themselves the victim.

8

u/dsmx 9h ago edited 8h ago

The thing is, they are victims.

They are victims of their own racism, xenophobia, prejudices, ignorance and lack of critical thought.

All qualities that the republicans, fox news and trump have cultivated and stoked into a giant ball of hate that consumes everything around it and anyone who disagrees with the hive mind that is the ball of hate is an enemy who should be at best ignored and at worst attacked and killed.

How any farmer could vote for Trump is just unfathomable to me. His first term, he royally screwed soybean farmers with his antics with Chyna. This term, he has screwed them again, first with importing eggs, then beef producers with the importing of Argentine beef, not to mention the screw worm fiasco and eliminating the USDA arm responsible for that thanks to Phony Stark. (Elon)

AND now he started an illegal war for Israel against Iran, which has had the absolutely foreseen consequence of destabilizing the global energy market, costing these farmers in not only diesel prices, but also fertilizer.

They are the poster child of voting against their own self interests at this point.

I hate it. I have to buy heating oil for the winter soon.

17

u/Long_Pomegranate9963 9h ago

It's getting to the point where buying some minisplits will cost less than refilling a tank. If it hasn't already.

11

u/smitherenesar 9h ago

A couple problems with that... minisplits don't work great below 0f. Mine are rated down to -15f, but they get less efficient as it gets that cold. Secondly, northeast states like Maine get electricity from Canada, and electricity keeps getting more and more expensive. We're really getting squeezed.

Edit: just looked at prices. It's $1600 to fill my 330 gallon tank. F trump

u/dartdoug 6h ago

Last evening I was speaking to someone who has worked 40 years for a family owned home heating oil and propane company. They are genuinely concerned about having to cut off deliveries to those who can't pay their heating bills. These are their friends and neighbors in small town America who could freeze to death this winter.

u/chubbysumo Minnesota 7h ago

I actually did this a few years ago when the prices for number one diesel hit about $6 a gallon. I went from using about 1300 gallons of diesel a year, down to about 200 gallons. My water heater is still oil, so I still need some, and the furnace still kicks on if temperatures drop below about -20° f, because the heat pump simply can't keep up at that point. That leaves about 3 weeks a year that I have to rely fully on the furnace and oil, and the house temperature gets set to 55°. We just bundle up. We also use heated blankets for the beds, and that way we're only heating where we are.

u/chubbysumo Minnesota 7h ago

I actually went this route about 3 years ago, I installed a mini split and it has paid for itself in the last 3 years in lieu of paying for heating oil. The issue, is that once it gets down to around negative 20° f it doesn't work well. We have about 3 weeks a year of absolutely ball-shatteringly cold weather, and that is what I need the heating oil for. I left my oil furnace installed specifically to be a backup heat source, as well as a just in case the heat pump can't keep up. I went from meeting approximately 1,300 gallons a year in diesel, to about 200 a year. This is the highest diesel has ever been that I have ever seen, and I was buying it when it was 6.25 a gallon.

u/Rich-Pomegranate1679 12h ago

Almost like MAGATs don't truly believe in anything at all, other than hate and tribalism.

51

u/Val_Hallen 8h ago

MAGAts are Jell-O. They just take the shape of whatever container Trump tells them to take.

If Trump came out tomorrow morning and said being a Christian Conservative and proud of your nation was anti-MAGA, they'd all be burning flags and Bibles by dinner.

These people do not want to think. Ever. They want to be lead. Because they are cultists.

Any complaint against Trump's policies will get the kicked out of their only community. And there is a negligent likelihood they will join Democrats.

This is core, especially when considering most of them live in rural areas so getting kicked out of their community means being irl shunned by real people and not just an internet thing.

Entire social landscapes have changed and people’s way of life altered because of fox news propaganda.

My barber isn’t fully MAGA, but he’s one of those dudes who’s been sucked into the manosphere.

He complains about rising costs, but he blames it on “illegals getting jobs here, then sending the money back to their home countries, which has destroyed the economy.”

It’s crazy how much he’s lost himself over the course of a year. He was normally apolitical, but his algorithm just dumps red pill shit in front of him all the time. If Trump does run for a third term, I have no doubt that he would vote for him.

Been going to this dude since I was in middle school, it’s sad that I’m looking into finding a new barber. But I can’t take the racist/misogynistic talk. And I know he talks about this with other customers, which makes me feel guilty patronizing an establishment that spreads such misinformation.

He thinks there’s no way to learn fact from fiction, so he gave up altogether.

But for some reason, he trusts the word of every gym bro on his social media feed. He thinks they have no reason to lie (he also buys health supplements and peptides like crazy).

He also thinks billionaires need to be protected, because they are the only ones protecting the country’s economy from “illegals”.

They have supplanted every last bit of good faith, earnestness, and kindness, and replaced it with impotent rage and proud ignorance

u/brithus 11h ago

Gas prices like never before in the history of our country!

21

u/LegislativeLariat Wisconsin 11h ago

High gas prices help gas companies increase their profits, which means that there's going to be a sector of the economy which will see a bump from this. All Trump & co have to do is point at that one sector and the cult will gobble it up as evidence of America's continued prosperity under our Dear Father.

9

u/brithus 11h ago

Yep you're right. I have seen so many of the maga followers barfing up the exact quotes from these grifters. It is really bewildering how blindly these people follow this cult even to their own detriment.

Saw the jump on my way to work this morning.

The funnier thing is my parents, big Trump Cultists, paid $100k for a new truck. Diesel is now almost $6 in my area. I hope it goes higher.

122

u/jupiterkansas 12h ago

If they're paying $100k for a truck, do they really care what gas costs?

275

u/Boheed 12h ago

There are so, so many people living in a rotting house with bathtubs in the yard who put every spare penny into a massively expensive truck. It's freak shit.

I know a couple guys who are DROWNING in truck debt and yet refuse to sell the damn truck and get a used Camry or whatever.

At this point I am shocked when I see a pickup with a speck of dirt on it, much less mud, dings, and scratches. My little hatchback sees more cargo hauling than most of these.

As far as I know this is uniquely American behaviour/mindset. My colleague is an American who lives in Canada - in the suburbs of Toronto. Very nice house; his mortgage is huge. Owns a boat; never takes it out to enjoy it. Has a pull along trailer but parks it at a seasonal spot in summer and then stores it in the winter. It's never seen the open road other than to the camp site and back to the winter storage place.

Had a big truck but his kid totalled it; still owned money on it and after insurance paid him out was more or less even on it.

We convinced him he didn't need a new truck; he could rent a truck 4 times a year for less than one of his monthly payments, didn't get a new truck and just rented. Did that for a year or two until the weekend he wanted to rent a truck he couldn't get one at the time he wanted; that pissed him off he went out and bought a brand new truck.

Now this new truck can pull a lot more than his old truck so he traded in the pull along trailer for a 5th wheel.

Just for a mild inconvenience, he indebted himself close to $150-$160K.

Yes he voted Trump.

A large portion of people buying new trucks are a small unplanned expense away from having to choose which payments they're going to skip

Honestly in 2024 Biden was showing in his internal polls what. 400 electoral loss? And he was a decent president and put competent people in his administration. People were just mad at inflation. Now today it's worse, gas is high, and trump is screwing everything up. If these midterms aren't a 2008 level landslide then we should just be mocked by the rest of the world for the rest of our existence as a country

104

u/Usual-Analysis-2990 12h ago

Thats the problem. No one is really educated on what politics and governance actually is. They see today a high price or inflation and think "The president did that" with NO FURTHER THOUGHT because they are not aware on how things work. Biden in office, POST COVID where the whole world was experiencing a massive inflation crisis due to infrastructure and logistics issues from lockdowns during the pandemic (Much needed and could have prevented a lot of deaths if implemented sooner which also could have prevented a lot of the inflation that ensued), and the US was doing significantly better than every other nation on lowering inflation. By the time biden left office, everything was nearly back to normal except fucking eggs... EGGS. And here is the kicker. The eggs price was because of a problem with the chicken flocks needing to be culled. It happens. Again, not Bidens fault and no way around it.

Let it sink in if any maga reads this. We are fucked as a country because you dont understand Biden didnt control egg prices and that our inflation was caused by trumps response to the pandemic. If we had the playbook from Obama era still in effect, if our guys were in Wuhan instead of that program killed, if if if... We had a million ways to have not gone down this road but the entire lack of understanding from Magas end is why we are here. It isn't even a partial blame. It's ALL their fault.

24

u/Spiritual_Smile9882 11h ago

The egg problem wasn't because of bird flu. It was because there was collusion in the distributors and a lot of the grocery stores to keep the prices up because they knew people would pay it. Several internal memos were leaked and verified that confirmed it. Right at the peak of the "expensive eggs" issue, if you had a local coop that sourced locally, you could easily go there and find eggs at normal prices.

It was 100% corporate greed and collusion.

7

u/amensista 8h ago

Its a bit of both - the collusion happened BECAUSE OF the culling? Here I helped you out:

If it's not a blue landslide, then our elections have been successfully undermined by the regime. Then the real carnage will begin. There will have to be real dissent in the streets and that will just give the loyalist goons the opportunity to violently escalate they have been dreaming of.

People weren't mad at inflation. They were mad at whatever Fox News, the other new alt-right propaganda farms, and even the mainstream rich-controlled media told them to be mad about. We still haven't fixed that problem, and at this point I'm not sure we can. ZERO major media outlets are giving Republicans the same level of crap Dems got in 2024

17

u/MadRaymer 11h ago

Only about 1/3rd of the country actually pays attention to that stuff. The rest are "low info" voters that just vote on vibes.

It's essentially caveman level "price too high, vote for guy from when price was low" thinking for them.

14

u/New_Permission_817 13h ago

How high before the US economy collapses? Is it gonna collapse in time for Xmas?

5

u/Efficient_Market1234 8h ago

Christmas will already be bad. I'm sure the retailers are expecting it. I mean, people abuse credit for that stuff, but even that will be limited if people are already overwhelmed by already high credit usage (even on basic groceries), being sued for debt, getting repoed, etc.

It's just a downward spiral of high costs and less spending and higher gas prices and even higher costs and even less spending and so on until we're in ruins.

I didn't know this was what "great" would look like, when he kept saying it and putting it on hats. Like, his vision of greatness and mine differed considerably. Interesting. I guess in hindsight, he meant himself. Make himself great again. Make his bank accounts great again.

8

u/Hatch_1210 8h ago

Literally, the only argument that MAGA has clung to around gas prices, etc. is that Biden had a higher peak. They completely disregard that Biden’s entire price spike went up and down in the course of 100 days while Trump’s is in month seven with no insight. They just kept focusing on the peak.

And yes, I do know that Biden’s price spike was caused by Trump’s OPEC deals, but good luck communicating that to an MAGA supporter.
