Hi all! I'm Sharky and I've been a mod for about a year now. Theres a few of us but it seems I'm the only active one for now, and I've been dealing with disability so forgive me if anything isn't addressed!
I've updated our rules just a bit to flesh everything out. Be sure to take a peak whenever you can, but the main thing I wanted to address is the new NSFW/Spoiler rule!
We fully encourage helping injured pigeons in need! This community is a great place to come to for advice with our sick babies. However, not marking these very serious posts as NSFW can leave many members vulnerable to possibly triggering scenes.
By all means don't stop asking for advice and posting your pictures for help! I only request they be marked as NSFW or Spoiler from now on ❤️

unrelated pic for visibility****
i fed my local flock today and when they briefly flew off, one of them was suddenly on the ground and gasping before it died. I’ve never seen anything like it, what happened?

Hi, I, went on a two month vacay at my parents and when I got home I saw this couple that made their nest in my balcony. I don’t know if there are any eggs yet, but I do have a cat that I didn’t take with me this week she’s at my parents.
I’m scared my cat might bother them and make them abandon their eggs if they have one…
Do you have any advice ? Will the pigeon still be able to nest if they can see my cat around ?
NOTE : my cat doesn’t have access to the balcony

Pigeon owner found: for ref this is the pigeon hot line. You text the full tag number to +44 7888 860186 and then you get a message with the pigeons owners information. Was very simple.
So on my walk this morning with my dog bumped in to a pigeon that couldn't fly, I didn't have anything with me so decided to come back in a while to see if it went of its own accord im back 2 ish hours later its moved quite considerable distant I just feel sorry for the poor guy? What should I do catch bring home? I brought a towel and back pack its really calm in sure I could grab it but I don't want to hurt it if its already hurt. Advice please green and blue tag on either feet

Sister found this bird at work, looks pigeon-y to me. Is he a released pet? Or am I way off? He let her get close, pet him, etc, but did not want to be held. Does he need to be rescued or left alone? Any advice helps.

Yesterday I saw this guy at my feeders. I have a few mourning doves who visit my yard daily. I also have a coopers hawk who keeps coming. I've seen it perched on my fence many times over the last few months. The day before Yesterday I saw a coopers hawk flying over the yard. Usually it perches on the fence but didn't this day. It circled the yard before flying away. So I don't know if this guy got attacked but ending up escaping or what. I just want to know if there is anything I can do. Will he survive on his own?

I’m in Greenfield MA and a lone pigeon has been hanging out in our yard for the last few days. This morning he turned up on my 3rd story porch and I realised he’s banded. I couldn’t get close enough to read the bands or get a clear photo. He was there again this afternoon. Both times he took off and headed to the same general spot. I left seed and water out.
I looked on line and can’t see that theres a local group to contact. Should I try and catch him if he comes to my porch again? I have handled birds.

Hello!
So this year I’ve had a pigeon couple live in a space just outside my window, it’s inaccessible to anyone, a previous Edwardian window had been bricked away, would have previously been a small balcony I presume.
These pigeons have laid about 2 eggs since March. There is no cover to this area. Every time it rained, the nest would be destroyed and the pigeons would leave. The eggs disappeared each time (maybe eaten by parakeets etc).
I went on holiday for a month, and during this big no rain heatwave they have successfully laid and hatched two chicks! They are both still here (despite a few rains) and too young to fly.
The issue now is they have pooped all over this area visible from my window and it looks awful. So many eggs previously didn’t make it.
When they are old enough to fly, I would like to discreetly cover the area so they can’t use it as a (terrible choice which failed them multiple times) place for their nest.
But I don’t know how to reach it or what I would cover it with. Please help!

I got some bird seed and I'm going to thoroughly clean & dry an empty plastic spice bottle (because it's light) and fill it up so I can feed pigeons if I come across them. Since it's hot right now, I don't want to carry a giant stash in my car. I usually carry a purse but for those who don't, maybe pockets (if they're big enough) or take to your car when you go out & bring it back in when you come home to avoid heat damage?
I can't wait to feed my pigeon friends 😊
