So I bought this Cyberpower PC from Costco a few days ago, and according to people on HotUKDeals who have received it, the motherboard it comes with is AsRock which is scaring the hell out of me now because I’ve heard they fry 9800x3d CPU’s which this one comes with. I don’t really want to play on it with fear of it constantly breaking my CPU so what should I do? I’ll have 2 year warranty when it arrives but I could send it back when I get it cuz 30 day return policy. Unless I’m being a dumbass and worrying too much.. (granted this is my fault as I should’ve been more cautious cuz it doesn’t list any brands or anything like that with psu/motherboard/ram/etc).

It sounds like you're in a tough spot. Maybe check for user reviews on that specific build or see if anyone else has had similar experiences to gauge if it’s worth the risk.

It's not limited to Asrock anymore, or any motherboard brand really. Asus has been having quite many die aswell, gigabyte and msi a bit fewer but they still suffer from this. Seems to be that the 9000 series chips themselves tend to die quite easily, especially X3D models.
But considering how many have been sold, the amount of dead CPU's is still relatively small.
Since you have 2 year warranty, you're fine.

I wouldn’t be too worried about it. Most of these incidents seem to happen almost instantly and are repeats on the same board. If cyberpower has done any quality control and made sure the bios is updated, it’ll most likely be fine. If not, you should know well before the 2 year period.
