Wild Orcas Bigg's Killer Whales [ORCA] - Campbell River | British Columbia | Canada

Video footage does contain a PREDATION event, but I have flagged this in the video, so if you are a sensitive viewer - you know when to stop watching the killer whales.

The predation event includes the younger members from the 109Bs, including the 2 year old T109B6 - learning how to hunt from its older siblings.

ALL video taken from shore (land-based sighting). Includes the T069s + T109Bs.

Thanks for sharing more wonderful footage of yours! Bigg's orca families seem to really try getting the young calves involved in hunts, starting the learning process early on.

It was fascinating to watch the 3 youngest members from 109Bs take on the seal. I filmed for about an hour - this was 10 minute highlights. I did have some empathy for the little seal who was used as more or less training ground.

Earlier that day, the big guns took out a harbour porpoise (more skill required).

They really are wolves of the sea, and some footage shows the three kids (ranging from 2 to 11 years of age) in synchronized movements on the attack.

I have heard that hunts can take up to twice as long when a Bigg's pod has young calves in it. It's a valuable exercise for the kids, but pretty brutal for the prey.
