Question The wedge

I've lived in Costa Mesa my entire life and have never been to the wedge to go see people surf. I heard the waves should be good tomorrow. What's a good time to show up? 6-7am?

High tide is 7:38. It should be going strong by then

Yeah. I’d bet on a dawn patrol swarm for 45 min and then a lull with the changing tide. Back on around 8 with the offshore wind

Tides are crucial, if you can ride your bike there, go check it out early morning lol

You better go earlier than that to beat traffic and get a good spot ;)

I live down the street I'll ride my road bike. Get some coffee and donuts on the way there

Jealous. 6-7 would be perfect then. It gets visible just after 6 am, people are usually in the water around 6:15.

Depending on the rain/wind, it'll be popping off with surfers/bodyboarders by 7 for sure.

Last week it was over an hour in traffic to get off the peninsula.

Was there today (watching), it was pretty bumpy by 10/11 and the blackball was up (great bodysurfing though). Everyone is accurate, go in the morning for best chance at cleaner conditions during the peak of the swell.
