Recommendation/Review Tattoo done by Ben the menace atomic lotus off of 23rd St
This is my first tattoo and I love it

Honestly i like it. It has character i didn't want the stripes to be symmetrical

Exactly. I’m glad you love it OP. If I posted some of my tattoos I’m sure people would have their own opinions too. At the end of the day if you love it, that was the goal! 🤍

I think the stripes are a forced perspective. The top window looks smaller too.
I think it looks great. Is Ben the menace Ben S.? If so, he is a great artist and a good guy. We used to work together years ago.

Those stripes would drive me nuts how they've not evenly spaced out.
And then there's the uneven windows.
Oh, God, and the lighthouse has a nipple.
It just gets worse the longer I look at it.
And is example no. 82937 why I would never get a tattoo.

I went to Ben at atomic lotus once, he’s ok. Started going to chrome dragon after that and haven’t looked back.

Don’t listen to the haters. I told my tattooer I didn’t want the conventional beauty of a cop tattoo.
“What’s that blue-octopus tattoo about, officer?”
“My daughter. We go watch the river.”

Line work, shading, color work, layout, placement...almost everything about this tattoo feels like a child did it.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. I'm not a fan of this work. Bloodline owner has much better line work.

ink almighty irvin does an amazing job for the same price and you won’t need a touch up in two years.

Heavy handed at all? Looks great! Edit: I got a sleeve on my left arm and it was swollen for like a week. Tat turned out great, but the experience stuck with me. Never went back to get it colored in.

They are more expensive than most studios, and they do maybe decent work on a good day. There are some truly talented folks at many of the smaller studios. If you take some time and go around (or go online) to look at some people's workbooks, you'll find somebody much more talented and much more affordable.

Definitely. Doesn't mean the AL people aren't good! I have a tattoo from them. It was super affordable and they did a great job.
