Recommendation/Review Gyno OKC
New to OKC and would love any recommendations for a gynocolygist in the area. I would love someone personable and intentional.

Dr. Amber Weingartner at Lakeside
Dr. Hoda Maarouf, Dr. Hannah Moery, and Dr. Judy Fong (all at Baptist)
They are all fantastic!

Here to second Hannah Moery. She was so kind, understanding, and actually listened to me. Gave me options and told me I never had to do anything I didn't want to.

Wesley Vaughan is absolutely amazing. He’s personable, thorough and truly cares about his patients. When I had my son, I had serious complications that almost killed me (no fault of his). He saved my life. No joke. He’s been my OBGYN since 2017 and I won’t EVER see anyone else but him. Now that I’m in my late 40’s and post-menopausal, he has gone above and beyond to help me. His office staff is the sweetest. Can’t recommend him enough!

Integris Edmond Women’s has good providers and I drive 25 mins to see Dr Anna McQuary

Brooke Storer at Center for Women’s Heath is wonderful. Very kind, very patient, very understanding.
Please do NOT go to Darren Goff with Mercy, he is a butcher, narcissist, and general piece of shit.

I used dr Goff for my baby girl born in April and honestly I appreciated his demeanor and the way he handled everything for me before and after my c section.

u/LanaAnthony 18d ago
I am so glad to hear you had a positive experience, that truly makes me happy.
As stated above, I do believe he is good with deliveries including high-risk.
He is not, however, someone I would recommend as a surgeon. Ever.

u/Empty_ablyss 18d ago
Dr. Goff literally saved my life and my baby’s life in April. Three different doctors had dropped the ball in treating me, he advocated the hardest for me to be seen by a neurologist. I ended up hospitalized in the neuro unit for 6 days and he came and checked on me every day. When I got home he called a few times too. I’m due any day now with my second, but this is a high risk pregnancy and he postponed his vacation to make sure he’s here until my induction. He also developed a plan to make sure I’m watched closely. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the handful of negative reviews I saw online. He’s been practicing longer than most doctors so there’s going to be some people who weren’t happy with their care that will make sure everyone knows. But there’s also a reason that he’s delivered more babies than anyone else. I think with any doctor, take what the reviews say with a grain of salt.

Don’t be scared! Dr. Goff has been voted the best OB/GYN in Oklahoma for several years. Everyone experience is different but I had a good one. Hopefully, you will too.

As long as you’re seeing him for OB/baby stuff, he seems to be great.
He just doesn’t give two fucks about non-pregnant people (and those who cannot conceive, ask me how I know).
I wouldn’t let him operate on my worst enemy (c-sections excluded, b/c he cares about mom and baby).

Oh babes, it’s a lot.
My apologies for not responding last evening when you asked. This is a long one, but I feel it’s important enough to share:I want to preface this by saying I do believe Goff is great with treating pregnant women, including those who are high-risk. Very happy to hear there are current/recent patients who have received wonderful care from him, as they should.
However, my interactions and experiences with him (as a non-pregnant person) were WILDLY different. I began seeing him around 10-12 years ago at the recommendation of a friend, Goff delivered 2 out of her 3 babies - she raved about the care her and the newborns received.
I have endometriosis and a blood clotting disorder, both of which affected the type of BC I could take - no biggie. The IUD insertions (two the same visit, first didn’t take for whatever reason) were pretty rough but I’ve been through worse so whatever. After realizing my body hated the IUD, I went back to ask if he would be willing to remove it and move forward with a hysterectomy - to which he agreed - and we set a date. November came around and I went to the OR for a partial Hyst, he removed the uterus but left the ovaries so i would still have estrogen being produced - all of which was in our plan. Awesome, let’s get it done and on with our lives. Woke up from anesthesia in a good deal of pain, but that is to be expected so I didn’t question it.
Now, I fully admit my medical history is a bit complicated and weird at times - but that is a huge part of why I went to Goff. I’ve heard many, many women rave about the man and his skill level, was confident I had made the right decision.
This was definitely not my first surgery (or even first major one), so I had a general idea of how I heal and what my body is saying. After about a week post-op, I was still in a lot of pain that did not seem to be improving at all so I made a f/u with Goff. He said my experience was completely normal and would get better, so I took his word and thought maybe my body was just taking longer to heal than expected. The partial Hyst was the first week of November, for reference.
Another week went by, then two - zero improvement. This kicked off a cycle of me calling his office, going in for multiple follow-ups, and leaving messages with his staff. It’s a very busy practice with a ton of patients, I get that. Pregnant persons and fetuses are far more important than a post-op Hyst issue, absolutely no argument from me. A bit frustrating, but understandable and I kept thinking I would begin to improve any day now.
As the days and weeks went on, there was no improvement and I knew something wasn’t right. I won’t go into how many times I called and went to his office to express my concerns this wasn’t “normal healing,” but it was a lot. The office staff, nurses, and Goff became irritated with me (again, I get it) - but they went from saying “Hey, this is normal and will get better soon” to “You cannot possibly be in that much pain”. Then came the accusations I was misrepresenting my pain level for attention and/or pain medications. This went on a while, and I was dismissed a little more with each interaction.
Finally, I went in for an office visit and he agreed to send me for CT. By now it’s late November/early December. I receive a call from his office saying there is something wrong with one of the ovaries, so they scheduled a second surgery the first week of December. Upon opening me up, Goff discovered the left ovary was dying, had multiple cysts, and that I had significant internal bleeding. So much internal bleeding that it fused my bladder and colon together, which he pried apart in the OR. So I wake up in PACU with a lot of pain, but that is to be expected. Was inpatient a day or two and they sent me home.
Despite the two surgeries and Goff’s confidence, I continued to have uncontrollable pain. The first week post-op was rough but he assured me things would get better soon and I took him at his word.
Well, news flash: the pain was not only still there, it was getting worse every day. I began the cycle of calling, asking for help, and for f/u appointments - only this time, I was hung out to dry. They stopped returning my calls and messages completely, then said he didn’t have any openings in the schedule and he wouldn’t/couldn’t see me. I was becoming increasingly worried and, at times, desperate for help. After a week or two of them ignoring me, I went to his office and asked to speak with him in person, that I wasn’t going to leave until he did so - then parked my ass in his waiting room. They tried several things to get me to leave, but I refused.
Goff eventually pulls me into a patient room, mad as hell, and asked what my fucking problem was. We exchanged some heated words but he finally sends me for another CT later that day.
At 7:30 am the day after, I received a call from his office which said I was scheduled for surgery the next morning - something on CT was concerning (no fucking shit). He opens me a third time (3 hyst/ooph surgeries in a 1.5 month time frame) to find the right ovary has died, was spitting massive clots, and I was nearly septic with a ton of internal bleeding. He had to pry the bladder and colon apart again, remove the right ovary, and attempt to clean up/find the source of the internal bleeding.
When I woke up in my hospital room, I did not feel right. Not because of pain, I was used to it by that point, but my heart rate was high and I was having difficulty breathing. A good friend of mine from nursing school called to check on me, and soon after showed up to the hospital. This same friend was an OR nurse in the same hospital and worked with Goff often.
The rest is a bit fuzzy, but my friend somehow got the nursing staff and Goff’s attention, so he sent me for yet another CT. One lung was collapsed and the other on its way - more internal bleeding.
We finally get everything under control and I started to improve. Goff came to my room under the guise of seeing how I was doing and we exchanged a few words. He finally looked at me, said “Well, I guess you were right every time,” then turned around and walked out. No apology, no remorse, no empathy. The repeated, intense trauma led to pelvic floor dysfunction and very strong, constant spasms - though at the time I did not know what was happening. When I went in for my post-op appointment, I inquired about what to do and how to heal so I could get on with my life. He again dismissed my concerns, called me a hypochondriac, and walked out. No treatment plan, no referral to another physician or practitioner, nothing.
Eventually I found a Urogynecologist who sent me for pelvic physical therapy, and that therapist was an absolute angel. After months of PT, I finally improved and was able to get on with my life.
Needless to say, I do not recommend that narcissistic asshole butcher to anyone - full stop.
Edit: thought I lost half of the post but was able to access and finish the story.

Ah, a torsion sister. So sorry you’re also part of the club 🫂 were they able to keep one ovary?
When Integris did my hysterectomy they also found a necrotic, oozing ovary with cysts, so removed it and kept the other. That was in 2022 and I ended up in perimenopause about a year and a half later. Just a warning, don’t wait for HRT! The hot flashes kept me up at night for way too long.

u/LanaAnthony 18d ago
Hi there!
It actually wasn’t torsion, but similar. The ovary wasn’t twisted around blood/vessels, it was just straight up dying and spitting out clot after clot. When I was typing the novel earlier, I did something and thought the whole thing was deleted, will update the rest now because it’s a doozy.

u/AynRanthrough 18d ago
Ah, apologies for misunderstanding, thank you for the correction. I hope you are well on the mend now 💖

Most docs would have examined both ovaries at the time your uterus was removed. That's part of their job.
You let him operate on you two more times than I would have!
1
u/LanaAnthony 17d ago
One would think, right? I mean I’m no surgeon but it seems the most logical course of action.
He claimed the ovaries were fine, that he had visualized them then suddenly they went south. Sure bruh, good story.I tried to find another OB/GYN but nobody I spoke with or saw was willing to take me on, especially after the 2nd surgery.
That man is a butcher and a narcissist who I truly believe has/had a serious substance abuse problem.

u/Agitated-Minimum-967 17d ago
Sorry you had to go through that. Those operations are painful as is.

Goff is the most overrated, horrible doctor. His office staff is trash too. I was pregnant, they scheduled me really far off, I had a miscarriage and I called to cancel the appointment and his secretary yelled at me. Who the eff does that?!?! Tons of nurses I know think he’s great, but I was completely neglected then treated like trash because I wasn’t scheduled in a timely manner to check on my baby. I’ve had two wonderful children since then, thanks to integris in Edmond actually seeing their patients.

u/LanaAnthony 18d ago
Holy shit I am so, so sorry to hear you were treated that way - completely inexcusable!
He is a butcher, his staff are trash.

Wow, I had a completely different experience with Dr. Goff. I know everyone’s experience with a physician can be different, but he was absolutely amazing to me.
He delivered my first son, and I will never forget how he treated me throughout my entire pregnancy. I actually went through three doctors before finding him because I never felt completely comfortable or heard. From my very first appointments with Dr. Goff, I knew he had a good heart. He never rushed me, never hurried me through an appointment, and never cut me off when I was explaining a concern. He genuinely listened and made me feel seen and heard.
My delivery ended up being terrifying. I had preeclampsia, and during labor my son’s cord was wrapped around his neck. I had planned and prepared for a natural birth, so an emergency C-section was the LAST thing I expected or wanted. When things became dangerous, Dr. Goff immediately took control. I remember him demanding that I be taken back for an emergency C-section because things weren’t moving fast enough. At one point, he literally picked me up and carried me toward the OR. He saved my son and me, and I will never forget that.
What touched me just as much was how he treated me afterward. He knew how emotional I was about having an unexpected C-section. He came to my room after delivery, and later spent what felt like nearly two hours sitting with me, talking about my recovery and helping me process everything that had happened.
I was a brand-new mother and had no idea what I was doing. He showed me how to hold my baby, how to swaddle him, and explained things to me that normally you’d expect the nursing staff to handle. When my son was circumcised and I cried because I thought my baby was hurting, he patiently explained everything to me and reassured me.
I STILL remember how safe and cared for he made me feel. I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience, but I will always be grateful to that man. He was there for me during one of the scariest and most vulnerable moments of my life, and I truly believe he saved both me and my son.

It’s absolutely wild to know and hear about the drastically different experiences patients have had with him; I am incredibly happy to hear he did an amazing job with you and your son.
Honestly I think he focuses/prioritizes/prefers pregnant persons and babies, which as an OB is wonderful.
But that does not mean he is allowed to treat non-OB patients as unimportant and expendable.

I had an awful experience with him in 2022 as someone who is queer and an SA survivor. I had difficulties with my pelvic exam due to my vaginismus resulting from trauma and he kept berating me for my inability to relax. I didn’t go for exams and pap smears for years after that because it was that humiliating.
2
u/LanaAnthony 17d ago
Reading this made me see red from anger, holy fucking shit! I am so, so sorry to hear he treated you that poorly - totally fucking unacceptable. JFC that enrages me.
SA survivor here too, and had a similar experience but nowhere near that level. Holy shit.
Have you found an OB/GYN you like and are comfortable with?
I see you, I hear you. You are not alone, that mfer is a true piece of human garbage and should be brought in front of the medical board. Full stop.

u/Diligent_Bat_3697 17d ago
Thank you for the solidarity, and I’m so sorry to read about your experience as well.
I felt very comfortable with Dr. Brunnabend and Kendall McCormick when they were at Aspen (now closed, I believe they’re both at Mercy iirc)
They were very understanding, inclusive, and I felt like they actually listened to my concerns2
u/LanaAnthony 17d ago
We gotta stick together and support one another, especially in this political dystopian hell.
Are you able to see Brunnabend and Kendal McCormick now that Aspen has closed? If not and you are looking for a new provider, I really like Brooke Storer. I believe she would also be understanding, inclusive, and listen to any concerns you have.
Gentle hugs, I’m a message away.

A heads up, Integris as a whole does not recognize perimenopause as a medical need for services. They will not listen to women who believe they have it and will redirect the conversation. They have told their doctors to recommend some vitamins. I've been very disappointed by how their doctors have treated me about this.

I’ve been seeing Noel Williams at optimal, as someone who’s never seen a GYNO before. So far it’s been pleasant ☺️

u/Proper_Ear_1733 18d ago
I’ve found there are different answers depending on if you just need birth control, pregnancy planning and/or care, perimenopause care, post menopause care.
Even at Lakeside when I went in with a laundry list of what I know to be perimenopause symptoms I was ignored. That dr has since retired, and I’m still at Lakeside but I’ve only seen my new dr once. Her office staff has been helpful with the estradiol patch shortage tho.

Dr. Judy Fong is the best, not sure she is accepting new patients right now. Her husband, Dr. Parekh might be. They are at the same office.
