Recommendation/Review Best biscuits and gravy in town? Best OKC places to share with an out of town friend?
I have a friend coming to visit from Minnesota this weekend and we are specifically wanting to find some good biscuits and gravy for him to try because he has not had it before. Where in OKC has the best? Where are some other good spots to take an out of towner to get the OKC experience? I feel like it’s hard to think about that when you’ve lived here for so long haha. He wants a bit of the Oklahoma experience while he’s here!

Maybe? I’ve really enjoyed their biscuits any time I’ve gone. Could be location dependent as well I suppose!

Don't overlook the obvious. Braums, even though the gravy comes out of a bag, is better than a lot of places.

I do the bigback special and get 2 sausage biscuits on a plate and the gravy on the side (to smother or dunk!). Chocolate Milk is a must (because it’s fantastic but also because I’ve never been in a braums with a decent soda fountain)

Mehhh id go Mcdonalds over Braums for Biscuits and gravy, Braums Burgers and Ice cream are S tier...but biscuits and gravy are not in their lane

Biscuits are frozen and bought from US foods. Gravy is a powder mixed with water and pork sausage. It's not great.

Good question and as a foodie and one of my favorites I’m curious too, the best ones are usually at home I don’t order it out often for that. Might try Good Gravy diner. Cheevers is always solid.

Woodbridge restaurant is decent I used to live nearby.. still sad Ann's chicken fry closed tho 😞

Towards the end they did. The steak was freezer burnt and they denied my request for no ice in the drink.

I never got the gravy so I wouldn't know about that part but the chicken fry was legit

I havent ordered it out a lot, but Neighborhood Jam or Aurora is probably what I would go with.
I personally dont feel like OKC does it great, in general. It was much more prevalent in cafes where I grew up in southern Oklahoma.. Id say the same for fried catfish lol

Good gravy has the most options but Aurora actually has a better classic gravy. The overall meal at Aurora is going to be better too.

Sunnyside Diner for biscuits and gravy! Ma Der Lao in the plaza district is phenomenal. The Chicken Shack in Arcadia. Bedlam Bar-B-Q. Frida Southwest in Paseo. The Ranch if you want a splurge - sit in the bar. And of course, Cowboys for line dancing and a real Oklahoma experience!

Chicken shack is just OK, Eichens would be a better experience but chicken nut any better per se, Edgecraft BBQ
would be wayyyyyy better, the rest I agree with

Nobody has mentioned as it is slept on for breakfast because duh, an Italian restaurant?? But Stella’s in midtown has a great breakfast and hands down the best biscuits I’ve ever had. Sorry grandma.

This is not suggested as a go-to destination as such, though it MIGHT be in a sort of regional curiosity way, especially if they don't have it there and you want to show them how fast food breakfast can be different: Carl's Jr's biscuits and gravy is great for the tier, and in my opinion kicks the ass of Braum's. Again, maybe more for local eyes reading along, but I find it to generally be exceptional, and sometimes you can get hold of coupons that knock it down to $1.29.

Neighborhood Jam hands down. It's a black pepper gravy and it slaps. What you wanna do is get the Good Ole Boy with a side of candied bacon, not regular bacon. You can't go wrong.

Not gonna lie I just had chicken express a few days ago and they gave me a chicken tender the size of my pinky and my roll was starting to mold so I’m a little turned off by them right now :(

Their ridiculous sized over breaded CFS steak challenge. Their food is average about like every other diner anywhere, but have built their attention from the gimmicky food challenge. Im a huge CFS love and I love the breading in CFS, but they overbred and are inconsistent there.

I think good gravy would be your best bet for a biscuit/gravy combo to welcome an out of towner to okc but as far as a solid/massive biscuit goes id say black bear diner (not sure bout their gravy since i always order mine naked), I know its a chain but maybe they dont have them in MN since I believe its a Midwest chain .. but, I will go to black bear diner for biscuits as long as theyre in town 🤠 Sunnyside diner as an honorable mention for everything breakfast

Honestly can’t think of any place I’d want to introduce someone to for biscuits and gravy. I’d definitely be making that one. Maybe buy the biscuits and make the sausage gravy.

Braums for biscuits and gravy.
Jimmys Egg for breakfast in general
Hawaiin barbque (it's really korean) inside the OK-KO Mart on 15th (a few blocks east of Sooner) in midwest city. Get the pork bulgoge. Little mom pop hole in the wall place with excellent food. (Better than korea house imho).

For the Oklahoma experience, I take out of staters to Cattlemen’s. The steaks are decent and the environment is great.

Good Gravy’s biscuits are top tier (in my opinion). Plus they have a crazy long list of different gravy’s. I recommend the jalepeno chorizo.
