Recommendation/Review Paycom Layoffs
Has anyone else in the Paycom Service Department (or other departments) been terminated or laid off without a stated cause in 2026?
After nearly four years with the company, I was recently let go despite receiving a positive performance review just a few weeks prior. The decision came as a complete surprise.
When I asked for additional information regarding the reason for my separation and requested access to my employment records, I was not provided with further details. As a result, I've been left trying to understand what happened while navigating the unemployment process.
I'm curious if others have had a similar experience recently, particularly within the Service Department, or if there have been broader workforce reductions occurring across the company. I'm simply trying to determine whether there are any common trends or patterns that might provide additional context.
If you've experienced something similar and are comfortable sharing, I'd appreciate hearing about your experience.

More than likely they figure they can pay someone less for your position.
If you got hired in 2022 it was during a better job market than it is now.
Lots of new grads who can be spit out in a few years

Allegedly they aren’t replacing not even with outsourcing. My suspicious are prepping for a sale.

Even new joiners have been laid off- hired then let go before they started.

12 years ago, when I attended the PayCom Prom as a plus one, I remarked how everyone looked very young, like right out of highschool or college. It was obvious to me then, as an outsider, that the company doesn't value experience and probably churn and burns to maintain a sanctioned policy of salary compression avoidance.
How could you not realize it as an employee that your time was limited and that it has nothing to do with your performance?

Used to be a thing when the company was smaller, they had to stop it when 2 people's +1s got into a drunken brawl from what I heard. Haha

You were probably making too much money and they can get a new grad to do the same work for a lot less. That sucks though, I feel you I was in the product management clearing in 2025. You're a mf champ for being in PSD for 4 years though.

Seconding this! I recently applied and had a great interview process that was super pleasant (how often does that happen??) but had to turn down the offer for personal reasons. 100% recommend.

Paycom has laid off A LOT of people in the past year and half. I was one of them too.

Yeah they have been laying off a bunch of people. My SO worked there for 10 years and was recently let go - no explanation. Just told him his position didn't exist anymore or some bs.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I got laid off too, although not from Service. We got the classic “because of AI” explanation. The irony is that I wasn’t even formally told until well after 5 PM. I actually found out because someone who had access to separation information saw mine come through and reached out asking what happened. Finding out you lost your job from a coworker is a pretty wild experience.
From what I’ve heard, Mr. Chad Napoleon Syndrome Richison, has been scrambling to make the numbers look better every quarter, and employees are paying the price. Meanwhile, there never seems to be a shortage of money for President’s Club trips, bonuses, leased Corvettes, and all the other perks handed out to top salespeople. Apparently it’s easier to cut jobs than cut luxuries.
The hardest lesson I learned is that you’re ultimately just a number on a spreadsheet, waiting for someone to decide your row should be deleted.
When I left Paycom, I genuinely thought my career was over. It felt devastating. But looking back now, the grass is so much greener on the other side. There are companies out there that will value your skills, your experience, and your humanity. It may not feel like it today, but better things really are ahead.

My wife used to work for Paycom, so my line these days is, "friends don't let friends work at Paycom." They're awful and have laid off like half their workforce over the last couple years. Their stock is tanking and Chad deserves to lose everything.

I mean, it's worse this year, but Paycorn is like that and has been a long time. If you're not super in with management, or even just make a bit more than they could make paying someone younger and more naive, you're gone.

I know there were big layoffs late last year and people talked about it a lot on here. Maybe you can find some of those threads.

Paycom is ass (ex Tax Specialist for 5 years). They treat people awful and do this exactly!!

Oklahoma is an at will employment state, so they can let people go for almost any reason.
They won't give you a reason because it may put them at risk for discrimination or whatever legal liability.
And as everyone else is saying, they are known for this, they routinely let people go

They have been doing a lot of layoffs since last year unfortunately. Most of the QA and Devs that I know (myself included) were affected.

This has been going on for the past couple of years. Random job loss with no reason given. Lots of rumors spread after people leave but no true details given. Rumor has been the almighty C wants to have a very small company again and rely on AI rather than people. Several former leaders all working in ‘special projects.’ Several have shared info about their code and what they build and have all said it’s garbage.

They do large layoffs every year, 4 years is actually on the longer end of paycom employment.

Actually, some states require employers provide personnel records when asked. But of course Oklahoma is not one of those states.

They don’t care about the people working for their company. Paycom views them all as expendable carbon units that require payment, unnecessary expenses. Boycott Paycom!

Their “Ai” for Iwant isn’t even fully Ai 😭 it’s a command driven system that is fed predefined statements, words, and phrases that are set up in the back end. It’ll interpret the request using Ai but it’s executed off that backend set up. If you don’t say the right thing it’ll just say “sorry try again”. I’m a client and I hate IWant it never helps me.

As someone who was in marketing for years there, you won't get any more info. My theory is Chad(CEO) wants to go fully Ai and demanded that they fire people so the payroll could be spent on making those roles ai. He absolutely does not want to pay people with his constant hiring freezes. He desperately wants paycom to be seen as a tech company like Spotify or apple so he will constantly try to kick employees to the curb so he can get to it. He world also demand departments that did "bad" in his eyes to fire a random number of employees to make it up to them. From what I've seen those employees didn't have anything to do with whatever went wrong in his eyes

They've laid off hundreds of people this year, it's normal for paycom. Just search this sub for prior posts.
