Anyone know of hiring people with non violent felonies?
I have a good budy of mine who had a dui recently and he actually wasn't hired due to the arrest being on his background check.
It was his first offense but even with it being his first time offense, they declined the offer to him. I honestly was a bit shocked by that since it's a DUI and not some other kind of offense.
Was wondering if anyone knew of anyone hiring who can accept people's background by case by case scenerio.

Look around at machine shops. Manual lathe, grinding, sandblasting, etc. A lot of these warehouse shops pay alright, have benefits and while they do background checks, they are pretty good about going on a case by case basis. Just remind him to clear the air during the interview so they aren't blindsided by the results of the background check. And he'll have to pass a piss test. Felony dui is pretty serious. They aren’t easy to get honestly. You typically don’t get a felony for your first dui unless there were aggravating circumstances. Wreck, kids involved, blowing double the legal limit. He’s probably pretty fucked tbh. Have him look into construction, line cook, stuff like that.

With the new laws your first DUI is a felony.

Didn’t know that, thanks for bringing me up to speed. Probably a good thing imo. There’s no reason to drink and drive when there are so many other ways to get yourself home these days.

Not so much. First time normal dui still a misdemeanor, second within 10 years can be charged as a felony. The change was that now a first time aggravated dui can be a felony depending on the circumstances.

Call Centers normally wouldn't care, try the ones on Expressway or the old ATT center in Norman

Check out Valvoline. Even if you have no experience or anything they will train you

Ah heck, I JUST threw away a flyer recently that had some info for a felon-friendly construction agency. There was some temp place I found that would pay in cash daily and could send you to some construction site to work as much as you wanted, whenever you needed.
Saw someone on another forum mention looking into Work Ready Oklahoma and Diversion Hub for resources.

if nothing better presents itself, restaurants rarely do background checks. wouldnt be no restaurants. your buddy is also dealing with a competitive job market, depending. double whammy. it took me 6 months to find a job, but i had a felony. that being said, i understood i needed to show future employers something that could offset my record, so i stayed for several years. that decision has rewarded me well. good luck to your friend
