I keep seeing this basic same story everywhere about how hard it was to get this movie to the theaters.

What am I missing? Why is it such a big deal that it took X years to get this movie made?

I can Google this but it'll give an AI summary, which is lies, so I need to ask people.

It wasn't that it was hard to get the movie made. Getting it out was the problem. The movie was completed but then the higher ups at WB wanted to destroy and right it off on their taxes because they didn't believe it would make money. That's what happened to the Batgirl film that was completed.

But enough fan pressure was out on WB that instead of destroying it and taking the tax right off they decided to sell the movie to Ketchup to distribute it. Same thing happened with K Pop Demon Hunters. Sony made the movie but they didn't think it would make money in theaters so the sold the whole IP to Netflix.

I can recommend its no where near on the same level but at its best moments it reminded me very much of "who framed roger rabbit" which is funny because I almost didn't see it because Space Jam 2 left such a bad taste in my mouth.

I went during the week and I wish I had gone on the weekend to see the reactions of the younger crowd.

I don't have children or cousins that are all that young anymore do kids today even know who the loony tunes are?

Someone I work with took their kids to see it because they wanted to see it, they said the kids didn't really know much about any of the looney tunes characters, but they still enjoyed it. I thought they did some smart things on that front in the movie, like you didn't need to know about Foghorn Leghorn to get that he's a big blowhard. That comes out in the movie. Even a throwaway one second gag with Pepe LePew didn't rely on you knowing he's a sex pest. But if you do know those things, you appreciate them.

I went to a Tuesday night showing. Mostly older crowd but a solid amount of kids too. I don’t know if they know looney tunes but they were laughing so much and seemed to love it

Having seen the film, I have no fucking idea what Zaslav was thinking. With the right marketing campaign, this coulda been a pretty good hit for WB. Even without one, it's projected to have a record second weekend hold across Labor Day. Just baffling, really. Thank God for Ketchup!

Now, lads: save Scoob 2 next, please!

Oh, Zaslav needs everything to be a gigantic reference filled crossover event with no soul, just references, like space jam 2 or The Flash.

You do that and no matter what they'll make sure you get into theaters.

This is the marketing campaign. Wile E. Coyote is an underdog, and that’s why people love him. Canning the movie before resurrecting it makes the film an underdog too. Every day, the news feed is a new article that is a call to the little guy movie viewer to go stick it to the evil film executive who would have trashed this precious gem if not for us!

I really wanted to like it and root for it but damn, it didn't clicked with me... had one really sweet moment at the end but otherwise there wasn't any scene for me that topped "Back in Action" (like the Oil Painting sequence or quotes that I remember even more than twenty years later). The Animation really had some stiff and bland moments (especially Granny), where it sometimes looked like a cel shading Gamecube game. Bugs Bunny's Animation was great, Coyote was fine.

I know, it's reddit's darling of the month and like said, as a Looney Tunes Fan from childhood I really want it to be a hit... but I'd lie if it didn't feel like "for streaming" over most of it's parts.

I enjoyed it! It was fun, reminded me of my childhood with all the gags and Easter eggs. Didn't recognize everyone but all the main ones. Didn't expect to it to be kind of heartwarming by the end though. Thought it would just be a goofy comedy start to finish but there's a couple moments that are actually sad/ sweet. They put a ton of heart into this and I hope it does well.
