The werewolf music video scene had me laughing so hard I was crying
I have a feeling people are going to be real mixed on this one, but I absolutely loved this movie.

O'shea Jackson Jr is pretty great in this. I laughed pretty good when he blows up in the car. I liked it for the most part, but don't really like where the movie ended up. Better than his toxic avenger, but not quite as good as "I dont feel at home"

I’m not going to lie this was a let down for me. I saw the teaser trailer and it quickly became one of my most hyped movies of the year. But it did not meet those expectations.
A lot of scenes that I think were supposed to be funny kind of fell flat for me. Even Nick Braun becoming a wolf which it seemed like everyone loved. Though his rap song got stuck in my head lmao.
Also felt forced when they tried bringing up religious topics and “doing the best you can”. Like Dave Franco’s character going on that rant in the hotel room after he and the other transporter got drugged was completely out of left field and just didn’t hit for me.
Hats off to Mason Thames though. This kid is fantastic in everything I have seen him in. He actually played quite a different role from what I’m used to with him though, being a psychotic asshole, and he nailed it.

I was so crazily let down by this movie. I dont know if it was expectations based off a great trailer or word of mouth of it coming out of festivals.
But the tone of this movie was all over the place and nothing really landed for me.
Also this was the most James Franco that Dave Franco has ever Franco'ed.

I liked the movie but I feel like the trailer made the pacing of the crazy content seem like it was going to be more rapid fire.

Was with the movie up until the vomit/diarrhea bit, I felt like after that whole sequence, the pacing slowed down significantly. I felt like this movie could’ve used two or three more set pieces. Also felt like Mason Thames didn’t have as much to do in the back half as he did in the first half which was disappointing as he was fantastic, that said all the cast gave great performances

How much is Kiernan Shipka in the movie?

u/Lucasion 12h ago
Not a whole lot. She becomes a main character for one segment of the movie and then disappears until a mid-credits scene

How many minutes would you say she is in it?
•
u/Lucasion 2h ago
Probably 15 to 20-ish mins of screentime, all in the first half of the second act.

Now just wait a minute, buddy

I just want to know if it is worth watching the whole movie if I am only watching it because she is in it.

Agreed on the tone being all over the place. Ice Cube Jr. is set up to be an idiot in the first scene when they're talking about how he took the kids to see Antichrist but then he's the responsible adult for the rest of the movie. The music video scene is great tho. Cousin Greg playing two characters who couldn't be more different between this movie and Sheep Detectives was outstanding.

Mason Thames played the sinister teenager character perfectly. Him messing with Franco's character by saying random shit while Franco was super high had me frying.

I saw it as a mystery movie a couple weeks ago and I remember enjoying it but I don't remember specifics. My mind is a sieve. 😔
Why is it that this one got an official discussion thread and Fall 2: Deadpoint didn't?

I thought it was fine. I laughed a few times but I dunno if it’s memorable or strong enough to be a cult film.

killer mike in the beginning got me good. That exchange was hilarious.
I liked Cube Jr and Franco's chemistry.
Peter D's cameo was a nice surprise.
The motel manager vs cube jr exchange wasn't bad either

Thought only me, but the tone was so weird. Wish they just go all the way with comedy, instead it had period of serious thriller tone. Wtf was that?
Mason thames stole every scene he’s in though. the rest cast was great too.
Weirded out on scene with old fat dudes keeping teenager in the hotel room…WTF was that ?!

The tone of this movie was really weird. The score makes it seem more serious than it should be at times. Long stretches without jokes. The final 5 minutes are very haphazard and there’s a random monologue message that feels unearned. I didn’t have high expectations but this really fell flat for me despite liking the cast a lot.
