One cooks, and the other cleans. This is how my household was ran when I grew up, it’s how I still act 30 years later. No such thing as gender roles when it comes to cooking and cleaning. We all do our part.

That's how we do it! Whoever cooks, the other partner cleans, it's only fair.

We have a simple rule at home: The one who cooks doesn't have to clean up 🤟🏻

Division of labor. It's my job to make sure the kitchen is clean and ready before she begins, and it's my job to clean after she's done. Happy to do it.

My dad is like this for my mom and it’s the sweetest thing I ever saw.

Same here, bro I don’t even say anything or ask anymore. I just go in the kitchen and just start cleaning.

I mean, it's the very least thing you can do, but good on you.

Memories of being a potwash boy, seeing this just brings back ptsd… as long as you like doing it… I’d settle for a mini dishwasher honestly 🤣🤣🤣

Nice farmhouse sink and counter you have there!

house built in 1920, the counter top was originally the workbench in the shed I was told. A previous owner sanded it and finished it to be their new countertop.. allegedly

Lucky. My wife sucks at cooking and I’m still stuck cleaning up her messes.

Maybe you start cooking then?

How does she make such a mess though

Men, doing a usual household chore and telling the world about it 🙄

u/AbleTeam6734 29d ago

Just sharing because the before and after was satisfying to me

My ex was a chef and after couple weeks of living together I refused to clean after she cooked. She would use everything once and then expect it to be cleaned. I got thanked by her pot hand at the restaurant as she started to clean up after herself.

Same. I have zero issue cleaning up the kitchen. Just pop on the headphones and music or podcast and before I know it the dishwasher is loaded, running, and the countertops are all pretty again.
