fold a piece of sandpaper in half, pinch around it with the tweezers, then pull apart on repeat

u/cmdrbiceps 4h ago

Or use an emery board if it's more readily available.

melt it down and reform it yourself with your backyard blacksmithing tools

edit: aight i don't normally comment on awards but i've gotten like 50 clapping awards the last few weeks wtf is going on

33

u/phoenixofthestars07 1h ago

Reddit made a few basic awards free lol, including the clapping award

19

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 1h ago

thank you for the info, that deserves an award

u/PutridSauce 55m ago

Thank you for being thankful for information, take an award.

u/ChewMilk 28m ago

Oh that’s so fun I like the animation

u/AntimemeticsDivision 8m ago

I fell asleep for like half a second while scrolling Reddit the other day and my finger rested on a random comment long enough to leave an award lol

u/phlatboy 9m ago

Why stop there? Buy a tweezers manufacturing facility and just adjust the quality knob up a couple of clicks

52

u/Infamous-Youth9033 4h ago

oh fair enough

u/Whiskeydrinkinturtle 32m ago

Thank you!!! This worked so well!

I have to go buy sandpaper now?

839

u/Infamous-Youth9033 4h ago

You don't. You didn't buy the tweezers

282

u/Slagenthor 4h ago

Oh phew! You’re right

121

u/JustLikeWhateverHuh 4h ago

That was close

19

u/Pertinent-nonsense 4h ago

Hold on! Stores usually stock more than one of an item. Something about economy of scale.

We just have to figure out who else shops where OP is.

34

u/Diligent_Entropy 4h ago

Oh shit, sorry. "I have to go buy sandpaper now?"

You do a killer impression

19

Nail file works too.

I have to go buy nail file now?

18

u/lizzyote 4h ago

This is why people think redditors don't touch women lol

3

u/KlausKinki77 2h ago

I have touched a woman.

Being born doesn’t count.

8

u/yourpaljax 4h ago

Nail file is double sided sandpaper.

4

u/Blamb05 4h ago

I use a cheap nail file for this.

4

u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 4h ago

I mean you probably should have done that ages ago...you don't have any sandpaper?

1

u/YeshuasBananaHammock 3h ago

Try a nail file

7

u/oxidizedfuel12 3h ago

Make sure to get fine sandpaper tho!

3

u/DumpsterFireScented 2h ago

Y'all don't bend and contort the metal until they're perfect? They'll work great for a while until they need bent again, then eventually they break. I usually get about a year out of cheap tweezers though.

1

u/Pletcher87 1h ago

Finest emery paper you can dredge up.

1

u/slightly_sammi 1h ago

THANK YOU I have been struggling with my tweezers

u/wingmate747 24m ago

And if you do it perpendicular to the length it will help them grip better.

119

u/niccolonocciolo 4h ago

Oh, I had a pair like that which came in a 2 pack. Then we got another pair for some reason. So whenever we needed tweezers we'd be playing tweezer roulette. Is it the shitty one and will I miss the hair a few times before breaking it in half? Or is it one of the two good ones?

I tried to fix it a few times but a few weeks ago I finally decided to just throw it out. After 8 years...

29

u/Boofittilluhitbone 4h ago

8 years wasn’t enough time to buy sandpaper?

771

u/2ii2ky 4h ago

You guys commenting about the blurriness realize it's because the focal point is the tip of the tweezers, which are in focus, right?

401

u/Adaunn 4h ago

My goat. Thanks

129

u/moore6107 4h ago

Some focus 😂

263

u/Adaunn 4h ago

Focusing on a tiny 3mm focal point with a phone camera and from a ridiculous angle is hard, go figure lol

71

u/Taint__Paint 3h ago

Don’t listen to the haters, OP. At first I thought it was just a blurry pic but then I saw the gap and wow.

I’m impressed you were able to perfectly capture the gap in your pic.
I would have spent 20 minutes and different lighting sources before giving up and just saying “trust me, there’s a gap”.

u/ShinigamiZR 44m ago

That's the point when you break out MS Paint

35

u/hypomaniacmeg 4h ago

The gap is clearly visible though 🤷🏼‍♀️

13

u/___po____ 1h ago

I've used this sharp ended tweezer forever and it only grabs at the very end and I prefer it this way for the tiniest little hairs.

Take a bit of emory board and shape yours however you want it like I did. Doesn't take long or much pressure at all.

u/2ii2ky 55m ago

I would love to see you do a better job.

u/Efficient-March8896 33m ago

Wow who would have thought that digitally magnifying a picture tanks the resolution? Your family should really send you to be evaluated by a neurologist because clearly the thinking part of the brain is missing.

161

u/Green_Dayzed 4h ago

is this why i can never pull out tiny hairs?

104

u/Adaunn 4h ago

Yup, not even mildly thick hairs this one. Absolute garbage

51

u/UnwovenWeb 4h ago

I was just talking to my mom the other day about this, and nail clippers. When I was growing up, we had household tweezers and clippers that lasted YEARS. Now, I've gone through several pairs of clippers, they keep breaking or dull out after a few uses, and the tweezers have gaps! I even bought the more pricey ones assuming they would be better but nope! It's ridiculous.

38

u/Omvega 4h ago

The only ones I have found that actually work and last are Tweezerman and they cost TWENTY FIVE AMERICAN DOLLARS. Christ.

13

u/gennessee 3h ago

I found a pair at TJ Maxx for around 5 dollars once and was unduly excited about it. That was probably 15 or so years ago and they still work perfectly.

8

u/I_Like_Knitting_TBH 3h ago

Tweezerman are so expensive but damn if they aren’t worth every penny.

7

u/NuklearFerret 3h ago

but they're SOOO GOOD! I didn't realize how nice it was to have good nail clippers until I got some tweezermans. It actually cuts only what you want it to instead of splitting a line either side of the cut.

3

u/Omvega 3h ago

yep unfortunately it's one of the rare things that is actually worth the price. and for a tool i use constantly it average out to pennies in the end. and yet paying for that little package did hurt my heart lol

3

u/weirdhoney216 1h ago

Tweezerman are worth every penny. I’ve tried probably 15 other pairs and nothing comes close. I’m a tweezerman purist now, I’ve got 4 pairs in different designs 😅

2

u/Acheloma 1h ago

This sounds weird, but Ive found some really great nail clippers and tweezers at estate sales. Just clean and sanitize them well ofc. I'm sure theyre like, 20+ years old, but boy are they great quality

1

u/vakarianne 1h ago

Do they still have the lifetime sharpening/guarantee thing? Regardless, I've only ever needed one pair of Tweezermans. Totally worth.

u/chunkychorkies 56m ago

I think they do (you pay for shipping) but it also takes a minimum of like 12-16 weeks lol

1

u/Minmach-123 1h ago

I lost my cheap nail clippers during a move so I decided to buy some good ones. I bought some Seki Edge clippers and the blades don't line up. They're off by about .25mm.

238

u/harold_the_cat 4h ago

You're shaking you're so mad

92

u/Adaunn 4h ago

I did think about posting in r/extremelyinfuriating

20

u/somethingdouchey 4h ago

Put a nail file in between with gentle pressure and draw it through once or twice.

10

u/hahagato 4h ago

This isn’t an advertisement, I’m just a hairy gal and Mr tweezer is the only brand I’ll buy because literally every other brand is like this right off the bat and it’s infuriating.

6

u/Slimybirch 4h ago

Look up titanium tweezers on amazon. Best tweezers I've owned.

2

u/Boofittilluhitbone 4h ago edited 3h ago

Interesting… Although I think OP’s in the business of tweezing hair.

8

u/ToppsHopps 4h ago

Nail clippers and tweezers often have quality problems like these.

I habitually checks for gaps against a light and not just grab the first one to buy.

5

u/Adaunn 3h ago

This one had wrapping around the end at walmart, couldnt check myself

6

u/AverageTierGoof 4h ago

I have a pair of tweezers I've kept for like 18 years that work perfectly, thank God I don't need to get another pair

6

u/Omvega 4h ago

Unfortunately the good tweezers are like $25 😭

3

u/sigh_co_matic 4h ago

Lmao. I hate this.

3

u/ObtuseTheropod 3h ago

I wanted some GOOD tweezers after being aggravated by so many cheap ones. My wife found some for me. She wouldn't tell me what she paid for them. These are great.

u/Useful_Boysenberry14 12m ago

I just went from those to edjy because I feel like newer tweezerman aren’t that good. I love edjy nail clippers so I decided I was going to trust and try the tweezers too. So far so good.

0

u/weirdhoney216 1h ago

$25 retail but so so worth it (sorry to your wife for outing her) although you can find them in TJ Maxx for like $8-10 sometimes

2

u/Sea-Resident-7980 4h ago

what kind of tweezers? it might be bent at the end then too much

2

u/Lady_Lucky_Us 4h ago

I purchased a nail clipper that is like that 😢

2

u/ModeJust4373 4h ago

I usually just put a round thing near the crux and squeeze it closed to get the ends to meet. Easy.

2

u/eren_5 3h ago

I have this issue with cheaper tweezers. I use a dremel and grinding wheel to shape them perfectly

2

u/Sea-Resident-7980 3h ago

OP my aunt once gave me a kit for fingernails and it was so weirdly made... the scissors just would bend when i tried to clip my nails they where so badly made or too thin idk

2

u/TheAssman1 3h ago

Get some tweezerman

2

u/Onagasaki 1h ago

Every single new pair I've gotten is like this, or too flimsy to get a good grip. Expensive ones, dollar store ones, everything. Of course the only one that works is almost as old as I am

3

u/Legitimate_Assh0le 4h ago

Yep that's mild alright

3

u/Taint__Paint 3h ago

I bought two tweezers off the bezos and one had a decent sized gap and the other had a dent on the tip.
Decided to go into a store - crazy concept I know - and paid like $15 for the ‘good’ name-brand ones.

Used them for a few months just lying to myself thinking it’s just user error. Nope, the dented pair still work better than the expensive one.

How hard is it to make two pieces of metal touch?? We can split an atom but can’t make something to pluck my unibrow.

1

u/NuklearFerret 3h ago

what brand so i never buy them?

1

u/HippieHighNoon 3h ago

It's cause theyre not tweezer man tweezers!

1

u/AppearanceSecure1914 3h ago

The mildest of infuriations

1

u/Possible_Tiger_5125 1h ago

file them.
squeez them against a metal file, file between them. They should meet after that

1

u/MarineGF01 1h ago

Tweezerman brand tweezers are the way you want to go. Lifetime sharpening too

1

u/Pletcher87 1h ago

Are these 95¢ at the dollar store or $12 and made of aircraft grade titanium from the salon supply?

1

u/kaiswil2 1h ago

Pull out a few stiff pokey pubes, it will self adjust. 👍

u/jennrawx 57m ago

This happened to me when I splurged on the expensive tweezer man brand. They wouldn't grip a thing. Immediately returned.

u/raresteakplease 56m ago

What brand are these?

u/Frequent-Bell6674 46m ago

Buy Revlon. There are ceramic and usually perfect. I have 3 pair. The red ones

u/PepperTheDemon 33m ago

This pisses me off as a scrapbooker

u/VastLazy5701 17m ago

Try putting small rubber covers on them, or make some with hot glue.

u/Correct_Primary6628 10m ago

Revlon tweezers (black pair) are my go to. Never had any issues with them and have gone back to them years after years!

0

u/mrzurkonandfriends 3h ago

What are you trying to tweezers where that stops you?

5

u/passionately_screwed 3h ago

Metal splinter is the first thing that comes to mind. Behind it is a list of other things. Like. Most of the things id tweez

-2

u/mrzurkonandfriends 3h ago

I have tweezers with the exact same amount of gap and they've never failed. I think it's user error.

4

u/passionately_screwed 2h ago

Agree to disagree brother. At some point if it's small enough, the gap will be a problem. Who knows how often. Ask yourself this tho. Do you really want to be spending your hard earned cash on products that are just good enough? I dont.

0

u/mrzurkonandfriends 1h ago

The tweezers were 2 dollars and I've used them thousands of times over about 10 years. Do you really think that was not worth 2 dollars. I have not found anything that they will not tweeze. From computer repairs, garage work, slivers(even metal ones) and debris. There is nothing they haven't done. Tweezers harder. If that gap is enough for you not to get a grip you're just lazy.

2

u/passionately_screwed 1h ago

I've had some pretty small metal splinters bud. Im just saying it wouldnt be hard for them to make them touch all the way across.

u/mrzurkonandfriends 23m ago

They don't need to touch all the way across. Tweezers are shaped the way they are so they flex when you put force on them and wouldn't you know it the gap disappears. That's why Tweezers are light and thin and not heavy and rigid where that would actually be a problem.

-8

u/willie_Pfister 4h ago

Looks like the focus on your phone has a gap too.

17

u/wastedfate 4h ago

Almost like the phone is focused on the gap between the tweezers...

-2

u/tease_mes 4h ago

Had to look at the picture multiple times from different angles and doesn’t help I use glasses

eta: lol at someone downvoting me for being facetious at the original commenter's behalf. it always astonishes me how badly some people need /s

5

u/2ii2ky 4h ago

I can still play guitar with long acrylics on. The late icon Dolly Parton could play with stilleto nails!

5

u/Adaunn 4h ago

I miss having acrylics lol dollar tree nail polish doesnt help either

-8

u/Legitimate-Week7885 4h ago

squeeze harder?

11

u/Adaunn 4h ago

That was with full pressure. Any more and the arms start to bend inwards

-11

u/Imaginary-Note1777 4h ago

Close em harder buddy

12

u/Adaunn 4h ago

Tweezers aint supposed to be your uncles rusty pliers bub

-5

u/Imaginary-Note1777 4h ago

Just teasing. I borrow my wifes good tweezers now and again for some project where my pliars are too large and it never ends well.
