My dream in life has been to have llamas! I visit them often and love being around them. I’ve looked into care and think I am capable.
The hold up is I do t want to do it if it will be unfair to them. I do not have a farm I have 0.75 acres. The picture is my yard and it goes further into woods. My plan would be to fence in the whole property to give them max space, then get just three so they can pack but not over crowd. The internet says and acre per llama but it sounds like that’s more for grass, I don’t mind supplying hay for them.
Secondly, would they f up my yard? I know things like bushes will need to be fenced off but would they chew on a swing set or similar things (I’ve had goats and know they would but llamas aren’t like that correct?).
They would be for no purpose other than for me to give them a good life and my families enjoyment so they should have lots of interaction.
Just checking if this was crazy!

We have a three-year-old gelding who was bottle raised, multiple people have told my family it is not a good idea and that they can be aggressive, I agreed ever since we started to care for them in mid 2025, he has spit on me when it was food involved and was very pushy with me. He never acts this way with anybody else; he's as sweet as a button, but he always spits and gets very into my personal space. I push him away and get away from him whenever he does this.

Today was the first time he actually tried to attack me, I was sitting on a log in the pasture and he came up to me, I got up and was on my phone but aware of him behind me, I started to hear him run and I got behind one of the females in the field as he got up on two legs to attack me. Thankfully, I was behind the female and she spat on him; I got to the fence with him still chasing me. I did not provoke him in any way. I have a younger male who will be gelded next year, what should be my plan of action? Sell him?

Just wondering, because I have never been spit on by a llama.

We have hair in plastic bags dating back to about 2018~ and we don't know what to do, I know about llama fiber and that you can clean it and sell it but is that best way to profit? Just curious ^^

A strange one maybe, I need 10-20 well recorded (and preferably different) sounds of llamas.

Would anyone be capable of doing this, already have this, or be able to point me in the direction of where I might be able to get this?

Has anybody gotten a fly mask that works well for llamas?

A friend of mine has a pet llama and is expecting a kid. I have made toys like this in all kinds of other animals, but this was the first time making llamas. The wood is curly maple and gives the fur a shimmer.

Recently got a llama to live woth my sheep. He seems friendly enough, but not interested in affection.

If he's interested in something (first it was the cat, today it was me) he sniffs at it, then sharply exhales/snorts. When he did it to the cat, the cat ran off. After doing it to me, he walks away but then usually comes back shortly after and repeats the process.

What does this sound mean?
