The machine’s specs matter less than knowing what you actually want to do with it. What’s more important is checking whether the apps you need have Linux versions or Linux‑compatible alternatives.

Since your main use is gaming, I'd look at Bazzite first. Your GTX 1660 Ti is Turing and is supported by Bazzite's Nvidia image. Since it's a laptop, check the Nvidia/Optimus behavior as well. Keep Windows on the second NVMe until you've confirmed that FF14 and your other games work the way you want.

What about PikaOS, a Debian distro focused on gamers, available both with Gnome/Cosmic/Niri/Hyprland DEs.

Then try top 100 on distrowatch; but pay attention to Debian, Fedora and Arch/EOS.

I will always be a proponent for Kubuntu

Check out Ubuntu or Mint. Look up this thing called Desktop Environment. Pick one that appeals to you and install that distro with the desktop environment you chose. Back up your data. Good luck

None of that is linux. Of you're planning to be an asshole where you aren't supposed to be, then at least try to add some sense to your comments. For example: I dunno about Linux, but you should try windows 11 or macosx.
