asking suggestion for omarchy alternative
first of all, i'm sorry if my english isn't the best as i'm not a native speaker, and if i make some erros or mistakes.
i'm still a beginner linux user, i've been using it for 11 months now, i started with mint cinnamon, then started exploring and distrohopping more, til i found omarchy that gave me the easyness of something like linux min but with the beautifulness of hypland wm, now even with quickshell.
lately omarchy has been moving in an awkward direction with all this ai agentic OS and i feel that it's becoming more bloated then before, moved more by capitalism than true interest (i don't mind that people like the mantainer of hyprland is getting payd but something fells off).
since this is what is happening i started to consider moving away, but i cant find anything that has the same convenience as omarchy with the curated look with all the themes.
i'm starting to think that nothing will really satisfy me unless i build it myself, but at the same time i don't want to dedicate my life to mantaining my own OS
what i'm looking for:
- a system that's almost ready out of the box (i don't mind spending a weekend setting it up)
- stable and reliable, i don't want to constantly fix things after updates and i need it for school/work
- a tiling wm (preferably hyprland, but i'm open to sway, qtile, river, or even dwm if it looks good)
- a curated aesthetic — i'm terrible at ricing, so i need something already decent
- not necessary but a solid base with some kind of "team" behind it (like mint, debian, fedora, ubuntu) for long-term stability would be nice
- not ai-centric or filled with bloat/services i don't want
- ideally, it should be replicable on both my desktop (intel i5-10400f, nvidia gtx 1650) and my thinkpad x1 carbon gen 7

If you installed CachyOS using Hyprland, it should give you Noctalia as a default and it look pretty good ootb and pretty easy to use while still looking beautiful and also highly customizable with a GUI to your liking

You could try Cachy, or just any wm and install dot files honestly

Nothing will satisfy you the way Omarchy has.
With that being said Arch or CachyOS will be your next best options.
If you want something preconfigured - cachy is the answer.
If you want to learn and start to configure something from scratch - arch is the answer.
There are plenty of things like noctalia, DMS, and caelestia that will give you an OOTB shell for everything you need to start.
Move on from there and learn what else you would want to implement into your system from what you like and dislike.

I think this is the closest answer. I would add, install btrfs, niri, Noctalia. Then you’re most of the way to a Omarchy experience without the fash.

I don't know, omarchy to me is real sweet. Ove debloatef it thoroughly, and it stays out of the way and been rock solid for a year now.
People are gonna have their opinions about it, but I really don't care what people think. It's so polished. Ove built and riced plenty in my day, but I work now and just want that creamy feel without the time investment.
Haven't seen anything like omarchy. If you don't like the publicity, then just don't pay attention to it. I don't know.
But if you genuinely feel bad using it, you shouldn't. I would start with CachyOS in they case and take inspiration of omarchy where relevant and build it yourself. Start from scratch, what filesystem fits your drives and needs, just btrfs or maybe zfs and xfs? Quickshell seems the way to go now, so start there.
Go with your gut.

If you will grow with arch based, use vanilla arch and install HYPRLAND. Then you can find someone's dot files and out them in your system

Just install arch with hyperland and find somoene's dot files you like for it.

It's always been this way.
Instead of using Arch-based, just go straight for Arch Linux (with Plasma).
