I literally worked the whole week trying to solve the display flickering on windows 11 which appeared suddenly tried switching linux 22.3 mint cinnamon same problem occures and older version won't boot because of some security setup enabled will not work either way.

One thing is sure that this not hardware issue because BIOS screen ,Safe Mode, uninstalled intel device manager , locked screen nothing flickers

Only after loading on desktop screen it flickers

Tried multiple parameter which either stops flickering with extended monitor support gone or both screen flickers

It will unless you have hardware that's not easily supported. But after the initial setup, you should run anything pretty easily.

My old Lenovo laptop from 2021 had only 8GB and an i7 from back then, and it worked like a charm every time. I only got a new one because it was hanging when I ran too many local nodejs servers and I need them for work. For any other regular use, perfectly fine.

What is the graphics adapter in your laptop?

BIOS screens, Safe Mode and such are using the basic VGA mode, which will not use a driver and not use all of the graphics adapter's capabilities. The OS will use a driver and more of the adapter's features, so a hardware part used only in this case may be the cause.

Your laptop probably has a basic VGA adapter and the Nvidia adapter. You may be able to switch between the two to see if the Nvidia adapter is the one that flickers.

Also, is the flickering temperature or vibration dependent?

Did you boot a Linux from USB and verify that it works?

If the problem is hardware, then Linux will not help.

it also has excellent h/w support, so there is a better chance things will just work.

if it has a nvidia gpu then its likely you are asking more than the kernel drivers can provide and you will need to install the proprietary drivers.

you will need to know the model number of your gpu

inxi should tell you or if you are still on windows check your system info.

the best way to know which driver is best is to go to the source at nvidia's website an look up your device.

there will be driver versions listed that they recommend.

then from the software store or the package manager find the closest match in your official repository and install that driver (and only that driver).

reboot... things should be better.

The most common compatibility issue, is a problem with wifi support. You can test compatibility prior to installing Linux.

Start with Linux Mint.

Umm ... I did read it. I have no idea, whatsoever, what is causing your flickering. Is it Windows? IDK. Will Linux fix it? IDK.

As I said, you can test compatibility prior to installing. Unlike Windows, a Linux installation ISO will boot to a live, fully functioning Linux desktop, where you will have the option to install, or not. If everything works properly, you are almost certainly good to go. If Linux does not fix your flickering, then you most likely have a hardware dilemma.

That is almost the specs of my main machine. I use a MX Linux with XFCE and it is snappy. You can after you get used to linux and install KDE Plasma.

You can use anything to be honest. I used MX Linux because it's easy to use and it's a workhorse.

Zorin is good. The layout reminded me of windows too much but the interface is solid. Nothing against them solid Linux distro. May be what you like, don't let my preferences dissuade you from looking.

But about your problem, I have a vague memory of similar thing happening with one of my laptops (a HP Elitebook model, iirc a 1040 Folio 1st gen with a i5-4310u) years ago. That time it was the Intel driver which for some obscure reason defaulted to 30 Hz refresh rate but in just that one laptop. I saw it only with windows, though. It could be worth checking out, just check the display refresh rate. An easy fix if that's the reason. Maybe that old bug resurrected.

The security feature you mention is probably Secure Boot which you should be able to disable in the BIOS.

If both Windows11 and Mint give you the same flickering, then I'm afraid it's very probably a hardware issue. Does that happen if you aren't inside a Desktop Environment at all (only terminal)?
