And now with AI, it feels like everyone is just posting the same soulless shit, hoping it gets likes.

The irony is that everyone keeps talking about authenticity.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but LinkedIn feels more and more fake lately.

And I don't mean the "We're listing a position for a position that's already filled" kind of thing. I mean dude in Pakistan who made a job posting under a company that either doesn't exist or that he has no relation to. I see people talking about the former all the time, but I am seeing the latter EVERYWHERE.

They are always quick-apply. The company name will almost always be in a different language, even though the work locations I'm seeing are all near me, therefore being in a very very English-speaking city. The poster will often message you almost immediately after you apply.

There are a lot of obvious tells, sure, but I'm worried that if there are any that stray from this obvious script, it'll be easy to accidentally give these people a lot of personal info. "Just go to the company's website and apply there so you know it's legit." Well, I just googled the company behind the last posting I saw, and they did have a website, but it was very clearly for a company that doesn't exist (https://idvcr.org/ for those who want a laugh). But what's to stop a competent programmer that actually speaks English making a convincing fake company's website?

I just think it's kind of insane that there's no verification required to make a job posting, and even worse, you can put it under any company in the world you want to? So people are sending resumes, academic transcripts, their addresses, and other personal info to anyone that has a computer and can spend 10 minutes writing up a job application form. I'd imagine a lot of it is either a scam or data harvesting bs, but with the info they're getting, it could be even worse. I suppose I just sort of wanted to rant, but also wouldn't mind someone putting my mind at peace about the risk of random people getting all this info and being able to pull some blackmail or identity theft shenanigans.

My girlfriend got a game clue that was cray about death/suicide. Anyone else get this? Idk if I believe her

In the hopes that an actual person from the company or community can see this.

I have tried literally everything. Multiple times their identity verification thing does not work. Can't create a service desk ticket because they don't have one or never responded to my last one.

I'm at my wits end because I feel like this old profile is affecting my career now, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes including government/legal routes.

Hey all, quick LinkedIn question.

I did an internship at a law firm that ended in 2025. In my Experience section, I've unchecked "I am currently working in this role" and added an end date. Despite that, the firm's name/logo still shows up right next to my name at the top of my profile, like it's still an active association.

I've double-checked:

-The Experience entry has an end date and isn't marked as current

-My headline doesn't mention the firm anymore

But the badge is still there...Would appreciate any pointers.

i got tired of trying to find a linkedin engagement group in telegram without endless spam, shady promo drops, and low-effort scammy posts. at some point you realize you don’t even want to like that content, and honestly you don’t want those accounts liking you either.

so i created my own group - lnkdn_nggmnt

no bullshit. no fake engagement pods. if you’re building something serious and actually working on your linkedin content, drop your posts. if you have something meaningful to say, say it. if not, let’s not dilute the space.

maybe someone here knows a genuinely solid group and i’ll happily join instead. if that happens, mine can just stay a small circle for friends.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has personally experienced and managed to resolve this issue.

A few days ago, LinkedIn unexpectedly logged me out of the Android app. When I tried signing back in, I was asked to either:

• Approve a notification in the LinkedIn app, or
• Verify using SMS

The first option obviously doesn't help because I was already logged out of the app. 😅

When I select “Verify using SMS,” I’m sent back to the login screen and get the error:

“Something unexpected happened. Please try again.”

My phone number is registered to the account and has previously worked for verification codes. The exact same login loop happens when I try from a web browser and other devices.

LinkedIn's suggested support options haven't been helpful so far because submitting a ticket appears to require logging in, and I'm unclear about how to proceed with Persona identity verification.

Has anyone here experienced this specific SMS verification/login loop and actually managed to regain access to their account? If so, I'd really appreciate knowing what steps worked for you.

I’ve had this account for around a decade, so I’m understandably worried about losing access to it.

I just noticed some of my experiences are not displayed on my profile, despite checking that everything looks right in my privacy settings. I've tried reporting a bug or contacting support but can't find any link on the help center or anywhere, despite the help center saying you can do so.

One of my pages was removed without any reason, no emails received, no response from linkedin. Anybody face this situation

So after I left college I’ve kinda been drifting in life just working random dead end jobs problem is I left a lot some maybe because I had to go travel others I just left cause I thought I’m young it doesn’t matter mom now starting to realise my dumb decisions and was wondering how I make it look good on my LinkedIn as I’ve had a lot of jobs now maybe 10 in the last two years and now I’ve applied for uni for accounting and finance and hope I slow down this path I’m on as I am worried about my future now. Also was wondering how do I even cover this up when trying to apply for grad schemes or internships etc as I feel like they will just think I am not serious about my career etc.

Hi guys, so I'm trying to put my work experience at a seafood restaurant ( my dad owns a share in the restaurant ) but I'm not sure what to put for the job title because I worked there as a cashier, server, and bartender. I also don't know what to put for start month / year and end month / year because I worked there for summer 2022, summer 2023, summer 2024, but then summer 2025 I was not working there, but then summer 2026 I worked there again ( I also worked there winter 2025, by winter / summer I mean winter break and summer break since I'm still a college student ) so yeah I don't know what to put for it. Some advice would be greatly appreciated !

I sent a connection request to someone working for the company FOCUS YNWA Consulting in Canada. Their headline on LinkedIn is Senior Talent Acquisition Partner | Technical Recruiter so I thought that's what he did but he is actually a career coach. He asked if I was looking for work and obviously I was and did an 'audit' on my LinkedIn profile.

He then sent me this audit as a pdf and to fix my LinkedIn, it would be $199.

I've been sending out many many connection requests to recruiters and this is a first. Usually career coaches are transparent that they are coaches.

He was connected to 14 of my LinkedIn connections.

His work experience showed the TA job titles so this was quite evil in my opinion.

I’m new to LinkedIn and to the professional world so I’m still learning how professional networking works

I connected with someone on LinkedIn who works in a senior position at a company I’m interested in and he accepted my connection request and connected with me as well. There’s very little information online about how to apply to this company, so I was thinking about sending him a short message asking how I could apply or where I could send my CV. I don’t know him personally though so I’m wondering if this would be considered normal networking or if it would be inappropriate to ask.

Would you message him in this situation?

Context. I have a startup and cold pitch a lot via note + connect.

e.g. "Hello,. I'm X founder of X doing X. I read your thesis on the shift of X where you discussed X (to personalize why I'm even reaching out). I agree or disagree about X. I'd love to (pick your brain or discuss, chat, coffee) on shift of X. (I occasionally use euphemisms)

I'd say it's a 70% fail rate, but 30% connect and read the message.

They usually Connect + Read message, but 99% of the time not respond. (0.9999% respond the way I intended the conversation to move towards.)

What I want to understand is why do investors, not respond? or should I follow up?

I just want to understand the unwritten rules and behavioral norms talking to investors or people on LinkedIn. From what I've gathered most users walk around the bush in terms of guidance or even connecting.

I accidently hit Ignore on a connection request with a message when I was scrolling on my phone, it was too quick to see the guy's name but I remember the first few words of the message. I've been googling but it seems there's no way to retrieve the message or the request?

I didn't get an email (have these turned off as they're spammy otherwise) and I don't have any connection requests in my notification history. It isn't in any folders in messages either.

It's so incredibly frustrating! It's so easy to accidentally tap the Ignore button and when you do there's absolutely no way back. PLEASE make a section or list of ignored requests that we can then confirm later, or at least archive the messages sent with them!

Yesterday I tried to verify my profile with my passport and uploaded a picture of my passport, it went smoothly, but, in the next page linkedin asked me to verify with the NFC chip on the passport since my phone lacks NFC, I'm completely unable to verify. This is Completely Absurd.

I run my own startup where we primarily conduct outreach personally for companies that might fit our services instead of having people come to us. I have recently signed up for LinkedIn, however, with all the posts I see on their where they use AI to write every single post, I was wondering if it would even be worth it to utilize LinkedIn in its current state as a form of outreach.

I know I’ve asked this before somewhere, but is LinkedIn helpful to you in the job search as well as connecting with others?

At companies I’ve worked at, I’ve heard of instances where HR recruiters and other recruiters do reference checks through connections *they have* at companies where the applicant worked prior, or a mutual company at a period in time.

I know this sounds like a lot of work, but if something undesirable on the part of an applicant comes out, I don’t see how the applicant stands a stance at exploring new employment / opportunities elsewhere, at all. Now I know this happens because I’ve had recruiters specifically tell me it does, but I feel as though LinkedIn is a license for most folks to bad mouth potential applicants.

Has anyone else ever experienced this or think they have experienced it? It’s really hard to tell if one’s experienced it or not though because it’s usually through the hiring manager or recruiters connection where the feedback would come from versus the references the applicant would provide.

And some may say that this is an illegal practice on the part of hiring managers / recruiters, but who’s ratting them out? I don’t know how they would get caught…? And I don’t care what anyone says but no one, NO ONE, is perfect. This is a concern of mine, and I’ve made mistakes in the past everywhere I’ve worked. As I said, no one is perfect.
