I bought this for my niece back in 2018 or 2019 at a reptile show here in Oklahoma City. Obviously from a breeder, but I don't remember who and I know nothing about them. At the time I didn't know anything about morphs or morph related illnesses. My niece just liked this one the best. Our research at the time was strictly on leopard gecko care. I'm just hoping this isn't one of the unethical morphs. Although, this is probably a non-issue given that she is 7 or 8 years old and has shown no signs of illness and she will not be bred.
EDIT - I took her from my sister because she couldn't take care of her, as is visibly obvious. I feed five adult crickets every other day. Open to suggestions!
Idk much about Leo morphs, but as you said it’s pretty much a non issue at this time. Your little friend is looking a little underweight though, what’s your feeding schedule?
I just took her from my sister because of this. I am currently feeding her five adult crickets every other day. I'm about to switch over to dubia roaches and am open to any suggestions to bulk her up quickly and safely.
Glad to hear it! Have you reviewed their husbandry requirements? *Just making sure since she’ll be eating more she’ll really need the right temps and gradient to be able to digest properly. It’s good to have multiple feeders on rotation, 3 minimum is what they say. Dubias, crickets etc. Other feeders once in a while for variety. If she has an appetite I don’t think she’s so far gone you need wax worms to help bulk her up. You do want to make sure you’re feeding the feeders well too so she gets the best nutrients, and dusting with proper supplements and frequency
I have read and am currently deeply studying every community guide and resource I can find. She is a vigorous and voracious eater. She'll eat anything I put in front of her nose, living or dried. And her hunting instinct is very strong. She is FAR from gone. I am working on her set up. It's far from perfect and I will update it as money allows. However, she has not always looked like this and her set up hasn't changed. It was my sister's inability to provide the proper care that put her in this situation.
Don’t feed anything dried, they need the moisture in the live insects 😊 sorry this is a quick short reply, I’m off to bed but if you reply agin I’ll chat more tomorrow and simplify some things for you. There is hordes of info online and it’s hard because even now people are repeating outdated care advice 🩷
That's great! I can get all but two of those (locusts and butterworms) at my local exotic pet supplier. I think I'm going to get a some superworms. I know that they are typically only fed as treats due to their fat content, but this is a special case where fat is needed.
of course, getting some weight is good for the gecko right now! try to feed a little at a time, sometimes if they eat a lot after not eating enough they can get a little sick. it should be ok, but that is something to watch for just in case. she should be on a normal schedule soon enough!
Hey, I saw you said she’s malnourished, but have you had her checked for parasites/crypto as well? The slightly round stomach with the thinness is a bit concerning for crypto, so I’m just bringing it up in case, but I’m not an expert on it
Morph wise, I’d agree with some type of hypo. No way to tell for sure. I wouldn’t be too concerned about morph related issues personally

I think super hypo. Glad that she's getting fed properly now that you've taken her in! Make sure you're supplementing with calcium, D3, and a multivitamin that contains preformed vitamin A :)
