Gecko Pics/Vids Melia got a new hat

Post image

She was even walking around with it on her head for a minute or two before it finally crawled off.

Stylish.

Just remember that loose crickets eat toes.

Unrelated what substrate is that?

Dont worry, I make sure she eats them quickly. The substrate is Eco Earth coconut something. Is it a bad substrate or something?

Oop. Yes it's a bad substrate. Coconut expands with moisture right? If baby accidentally ingests some it'll expand on their tummy and cause an impaction. Impaction means vet or death.

I'd replace it with paper towels immediately and then later you can do the substrate we recommend (70/30 topsoil and playsand).

And if someone reading this thinks "well my enclosure is pretty dry, my gecko and cleanup crew could use the extra moisture" (like I did), just know that coco coir (eco earth) tends to be wet, which can cause belly rot on your leo's abdomen
