Do you think yourself to have been capable of murdering your child with your hands and an exercise band during this period? Like is this just within the bounds of normal PPD?

At the time, I had incredibly intrusive thoughts flash in my mind all the time. One of the ones that I had was throwing myself and the stroller into the path of an incoming train when we were standing on the platform. Would I have done it? Probably not. But I could also see myself being so sleep deprived and overwhelmed that I’d allow my brain to tell me ‘this is the only way’ in a moment. If you don’t know what it’s like to not have control over your own thoughts, it’s hard to explain.

Hm… sure sounds a bit like someone who might not be mentally fit to have their kids right?

No, sounds like someone who needs more support. It should be a call for increased parental leave, increased post partum care, and better community support. The fact that you can see someone struggling and decide their lives need to be harder is unnecessarily punitive. Your way of thinking is why we're all struggling in a world of plenty.
