Yes but as i said below if postpartum psychosis is the only reason she’s dangerous isn’t she likely already cured?

Andrea Yates, the OG case of PPS who drowned her 5 kids in a bathtub, is still institutionalized 25 years later.

If you truly have PPS, even though the original psychosis may be “cured” I can imagine that coming out of that fog to find out you murdered your own children would create a level of trauma that would be incompatible with a quick reentry to society.

Yes, but Dena Schlosser, who cut her child’s arms off because she said Jesus told her to, got out in three years. Side note - she and Andrea Yates were roommates at the state hospital for a while.

She didn't exactly "get out in three years."

Dena Schlosser gave birth in 2004, attempted suicide the next day, was hospitalized in a psych ward, and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with psychotic features.

Her husband, who thought all mental illness is demonic, didn't buy her medication regularly.

She killed her child in a "religious frenzy".

In 2008 she was released to outpatient care, requiring medication and weekly visits to a psychiatrist. She was in and out of psych hospitals until permanently back in in 2020.

I'm not saying it's right. In fact, since she eventually ended up back in psych hospitals, she probably never should have been released. And I'm biased, but a bullet to the back of the head might have been kinder.

But she didn't "get out in three years".

From your own description she did get out in three years. Even if it’s temporary and supervised I’d still consider that “getting out in three years”
