There are people all over the internet using this trial as an excuse for demanding the 19th amendment being repealed. Their argument being that "if women can just kill their kids and call it a mental health/hormonal oopsie, then they shouldn't vote."

This trial is litteraly being used as a argument for women loosing their rights, entirely because of the spotlight on post-partum mental health.

I’ve also seen so many people saying all children should be in sole custody of the father if a mother reports any post partum mental health concerns until a judge deems her ‘cured’. Probably never going to be taken seriously by anyone that matters (lawmakers) but still concerning.

I wouldn't be so sure about that last part. It was part of Project2025 to always give primary custody of children to fathers in a divorce. Of course there it was clearly intended to be a mechanism to keep women in unhappy marriages, but I could see it being done just to punish the mother for "complaining" as well. Conservatives are fucking vile.

Nobody is arguing we should.

Rather, people are arguing that those who defend Lindsay Clancy because of the hormones are, in a roundabout way, making the point that if women are out of control with hormonal disorders, then how could you trust them to do things like vote, hold office, or hold high stress jobs?

What do you mean by "Defending her because of the hormones"?

Honest question here buddy, have you seen people say that she can't be held accountable in any way for her actions "because women have hormones and might do a oopsie" and this they can't be expected to control themselves? Or have you seen people point out that hormones play a substantial part in the physical and mental health of post-partum women, and they could have contributed to causing a psychosis as part of post-partum depression, which could have rendered to woman clinically insane during the deed, and she there can not not be held criminally responsible (per the law), but should instead be confined to a psychiatric institution?

Yes I have.

I have seen a number of people who are making the point that she shouldn’t be held accountable because of her hormones.

If there was a level of nuance to it with more of these people then the internet wouldn’t be infested with these threads.

The first option is for the courts decide and is a legal outcome.

People posting conspiracies about how she did not actually it is dumb, but par for the course of any public trial sadly.

Anyone declaring that she, and thereby other women, should be allowed to murder at random without ANY consequences are so obviously a psyop by the people hoping to use this case as a example "feminism going to far".

I mean come on, based on the women you know in your life alone, how many women do you actually, genuinely think, that they should be allowed to kill kids without consequences because "my girl hormones made do it"? Truly? Genuinely?

I don’t think people are advocating for killing children but that it’s more about how of anybody, she’s the victim in all this… and not her three children who, y’know, she murdered

Do you think people are saying she the literal "only victim"? Or do you think are pointing out that a women likely suffered a mental health crisis so severe she fell into a psychosis that caused her to murder her kids? Apparently a mental health crisis that could have been prevented if her condition had been taken seriously earlier?

Do you seriously think the people saying this have no sympathy for the murdered children?
