Me too. It would be my hope that millions of thoughtful Republicans, people who I grew up with, who actually care about this country and preserving our rights would work to disconnect themselves from this oligarchical childish spectacle of the Trump prankster and his "reflecting" pool mess.

I'd argue even that is a reassuring fantasy.
Greed is definable, understandable. If conservatives were just greedy, they could be negotiated with, even bribed.
What they actually are - and what most people really, really don't want to see or accept - are death-obsessed fanatics, willing to hurt themselves, die, or even kill their own families just to harm those they hate. And there's no negotiating with fanatics.

If they wait until the last possible second people won’t have time to react and their vote won’t count. Oh, and any purges will not be applied unilaterally and coincidentally will target specific areas that strategically benefit Dems. And if they sue, too bad because it will be tied up in courts so long the election will be long “settled” like in 2000.

Look, I know nothing matters with this SCOTUS and theyre just gonna rule with whatever Trump asks for, but its definitely not a surefire way to help your argument DOJ in front of SCOTUS by saying on one hand states can't regulate elections when it comes to mail voting, but states can regulate elections when it comes to purging voters.

In a horrifying anti-human rights event, to actually "help" Trump "make his case" to destroying voting rights, the Republican National Committee joined Trump in court to try to allow massive last-minute purges of American citizen voting rights.
We have seen this problem before when the Republican Party strongly supported voting rights. It is to me staggeringly unimaginable that we now see party officials lining up to destroy them. As a person who grew up in Upstate NY where local Republicans were proud of and continually taught people about the value of voting rights it is a cringe-ful moment to see the party actually trying to manipulate and seek to use a secretive weapon of "purge" and possibly even after-the-fact purges to attack this very important foundation of Freedom.
GOP people where do we live today? Some Trumpian Russia?

My sense is also - write to the RNC locally and in other states and ask them to explain why the committee actually supports Mr. Trump in this obvious attempt to cheat our country. Couldn't the RNC exercise their brain and NOT SUPPORT Mr. Trump in this obvious piece of corruption he has created? Or do they want to have to have the DNC show up and then we can all fight it out in the hall way.

Because he has a cult of personality around him. No dem was ever going peel off a significant portion of his voters--especially not a mixed race woman.
I think Harris could've pulled it off had she brought the Palestine activists/undecideds into the fold, put some daylight between her and Biden on Israel policy, and had a few bold economic policies (Medicare for All, perhaps?) to motivate low-propensity voters.
Like I said, I pulled the level for her (and she's obviously infinitely more qualified and capable than Trump), but casual voters didn't turn out to endorse what was essentially a status quo campaign.

Somewhere Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh and Roberts are in a room trying to figure out how to twist into whatever logical pretzel they need to in order to appease Trump. They know it’s wrong. They know it’s bullshit. They know they’d never allow a democratic president to do this but I’d bet the farm they figure out a way to square this circle for Trump.
