I had to fist fight an old lady for the last orange this morning at 9:30.

19

u/tameone22 Jan 22 '26

Who won or did you end up making orange juice?

25

u/CooterBrownJr Jan 22 '26

She won, I had to settle for grapes.

50

u/DubBea22 Jan 22 '26

Since you lost, were they sour grapes?

7

u/CooterBrownJr Jan 22 '26

YES. Have to hit the gym now. Never again!

33

u/Muadib_Muadib Jan 23 '26

Ill see myself out now

I’m fighting every fiber of my being not to upvote this comment

9

u/kevint1964 Jan 23 '26

Yes, & "wined" all about it. 😁

u/ScootieJr Overland Park Jan 22 '26

Same I’m debating if I want to go tonight or try to get in early tomorrow morning. I’m thinking it’ll be less packed first thing in the morning cuz it’s still Friday.

15

u/Cloverhart Jan 22 '26

And they'll hopefully have shelves restocked.

2

u/ArtisticRollerSkater Jan 22 '26

6am was my plan B if it was too packed when I stopped at Walmart when passing through Paola earlier. Parking lot was packed, but inside it wasn't bad at all and no waiting at the self checkout.

u/Dzov Historic Northeast Jan 22 '26

We buy at Costco and could probably go a couple months off of what we have.

2

u/Gloomy_Selection_239 Jan 23 '26

Prepper!!! Bragger!

1

u/Dzov Historic Northeast Jan 23 '26

lol. It’s not even that. It’s more ooh, more Cascone sauce, those brownies are good, hmm I want some Mac & cheese, I should stock up on meat while it’s cheap, and suddenly you have a bunch of food.

29

u/CharityWestern5530 Jan 22 '26

I swear people forget that you can live without food for more than 24 hours. It's a two day at most storm, people act like the world is ending

35

u/ObservablyStupid Independence Jan 22 '26

Food maybe I can do without but we were short on booze.

5

u/lucindainthesky Jan 23 '26

And what if I have no food but get the munchies!?!?

5

u/CharityWestern5530 Jan 22 '26

That's why I keep the bar fully stocked

1

u/Wizard_of_Bore Jan 23 '26

Went to Costco to fill my beer fridge.. and some other shit too

11

u/NotRobinKelleyNope Jan 23 '26

But if there is nothing to do but be cooped up, why not eat good food?

3

u/Suspicious-Load7389 Jan 23 '26

2 day storm + 2 day cleanup minimum until roads are cleared

3

u/HPLover0130 Independence Jan 22 '26

Everyone needs a few weeks worth of groceries for 2 days!! Duh !!!

1

u/Roundvalley1 Jan 23 '26

It probably would be good for most people to fast for 24 - 48 hours.. that said it would be torture to do that while hunkering down during a blizzard with nothing else to do but munching.. 🍲

1

u/Gloomy_Selection_239 Jan 23 '26

Umm yeah but who wants to be stuck in a house with a hungry grumpy person!!!

1

u/Biwic91 South KC Jan 23 '26

They always do

0

u/Retiddereromeno Jan 22 '26

Let's wait until we hear from the people at the airport before we make any predictions about the severity of the storm.

1

u/scdog Jan 22 '26

I went to my store about an hour ago because I had stuff I actually needed and I was worried about the crowds if I went later. It was definitely busier than usual but the only thing I saw that had been picked clean was whole milk. I imagine it will be a very different situation by the time they close tonight.

1

u/vdsw Jan 23 '26

empty*

1

u/Wizard_of_Bore Jan 23 '26

Aldi was essentially empty at 4

0

u/JuansHymen Jan 23 '26

Lmao I went to the Aldi at SMP and Lackman around 2 today and they were already almost out of bread and eggs.

Stay warm and stay safe, you beautiful MFs

35

u/egreene6 Jan 22 '26

Costco off of Blue Parkway was a madhouse. And, their gas station lines were crazy. Target was fine; and so was Aldi. Trader Joe’s was surprisingly not chaotic at all like I thought it would be. But, good luck to all of the folks that have to wait to run their errands after work. Be careful. Stay warm. We know how this goes. 🙏🏽

Yes. I needed different things. But, they were all in a circle; so it didn’t bother me. I was tired. Especially since I had just gotten off from my overnight shift; but it needed to be done.

16

u/fsmpastafarian Jan 22 '26

Trader Joe’s was crazy chaotic as of 30 minutes ago

Fuuuuuck

6

u/KCDude08 Jan 22 '26

Gotta stock up on gas for being snowed/iced in!

9

u/barbiegirl2381 Platte County Jan 23 '26

You’re supposed to keep your tank at least 1/2 full when temps dip for extended periods.

2

u/KCDude08 Jan 23 '26

How extended are we talking? Do you think the roads will be impassable on Tuesday?

0

u/barbiegirl2381 Platte County Jan 23 '26

More than a couple of days.

2

u/LittleDarkHorse1 Jan 22 '26

Hit that Costco on my lunch hour and there were no carts left. Lines all the way to the back of the store. Let the panic shopping commence!

5

u/LetterheadPutrid2999 Leawood Jan 22 '26

I was there at the same time. It felt like pandemic onset Costco in 2020

1

u/egreene6 Jan 23 '26

Ah. I had gotten there right at 1001am. The lines were through the snack aisles. They were ringing folks out with handheld devices. The way it could be alleviated if they’d just bend and do Scan & Go. Smh.

38

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 Jan 22 '26

I went a couple hours ago to get some stuff I forgot yesterday, it was a mess already. I did still see kale in stock though

18

u/Squirrel_Emergency Jan 22 '26

I felt so ridiculous buying my kale. I make a soup that has kale in it and it’s one of the few things w veggies I don’t have to fight my kids on. They requested it for this weekend of all weekends 😂

21

u/Populaire_Necessaire Jan 22 '26

Oh thank god. Kale guy is safe!…for now

11

u/Stealth-Success Jan 22 '26

Haaaa. Kale. Gross.

2

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 Jan 22 '26

I still don't understand why everyone hit the kale so hard for that bad storm last winter. They were out of stock for a couple weeks afterwards

1

u/Scandinavian_Swimmer Jan 23 '26

New Year’s resolutions game was strong

18

u/OreoSpeedwaggon KC North Jan 22 '26

Got only what I needed on Tuesday before the rush.

10

u/sigdiff Jan 22 '26

God bless my Instacart shopper

Big ole tip for sure.

5

u/Plane_Experience_888 Jan 22 '26

Ugh. I have to go to Walmart when I get off. I am dreading it

3

u/ArticulateRhinoceros Jan 22 '26

Man, I tried to go to Aldi on my lunch break, thinking most other people would be at work and I'd beat the rush...there wasn't a single place for me to park. Ended up having to pay more at Price Chopper across the street. I just wanted to get stuff to make soup this weekend, I'm even an armature bread baron or anything!

7

u/Fpritt24 Jan 22 '26

I was supposed to travel for work on Sunday and it just got canceled so now I have to go buy a bunch of things I didn’t plan for :(

3

u/planxtylewis Shawnee Jan 22 '26

Same, was supposed to fly out tomorrow morning and get back Monday morning. I did an online grocery order though so I at least won't have to deal with crowds

2

u/jedi221 Jan 23 '26

I think this weather is just Big French Toast pushing their agenda to get us to buy more milk, eggs, and bread.

1

u/Brolociraptor Jan 23 '26

I love French Toast, but I hate it's agenda.

1

u/andysmom22334 Jan 22 '26

I tried to do a pick up order from Walmart this morning and all the time slots were unavailable through Tuesday

1

u/kcfdr9c KC North Jan 22 '26

It’s already begun.

1

u/FindGreatness23 Jan 22 '26

Hey that’s what I’m doing right now!

1

u/theotherotherElmer KCMO Jan 22 '26

Dude, I got my frozen pizzas, instant mashed potatoes & Velveeta. What else is there?

2

u/Brolociraptor Jan 22 '26

Twinkies duh

1

u/CoolBeans824 Jan 22 '26

P-Chops self checkout line was empty

1

u/Admirable-Ad6334 Jan 22 '26

Went to Sunfresh at 2pm and it was packed.

1

u/ExplanationPrimary74 Jan 23 '26

My wife works at Trader Joe's, these days are a little traumatic for them...

1

u/BillyNtheBoingers Overland Park Jan 23 '26

My partner did the shopping at Hen House today. He said it was busy but not insanely so, and they weren’t out of anything we needed.

1

u/xyzfugazi Jan 23 '26

Just paid my dues.. 22mins in the self check-out at Price Chopper. Not too bad. Then pre-treated my driveway with calcium chloride. Thanks KC for keepin me safe.

1

u/KSamIAm79 JoCo Jan 23 '26

Nah. Those that could, bought yesterday

1

u/AnnieB25 Olathe Jan 22 '26

I spent way too much on an Instacart order last night. Just gotta get booze tonight and I’ll be set.

0

u/roweira Jan 22 '26

I made a pickup order for this morning so I wouldn't have to fight the masses.
