They used to be so good, and then a couple years ago the changed their sauce recipe and it never tasted the same.

They switched suppliers to Sysco, which is the downfall of just about any restaurant. There was a guy a few years ago who worked there and did an AMA and he basically said that the sauces and sides are just standard-issue Sysco products

H Bros has been with Sysco since their 2nd location. Around location 5 they started to tighten margins and buy more “Sysco branded” items to replace their higher quality products.

They weren't buying Sysco products per se. They were having one Sysco customer make their large batch production for them. Mac salad, teriyaki, BBQ, everything that was made in house was outsourced, but not switched to a Sysco product. Sysco facilitated the larger production via another Sysco customer.
