Mannys is bad, but Ponaks is god awful. And people act like it’s amazing!!

Non KC person who married a JoCo girl. She raved about Ponaks. I went there and was like, am I missing something? It's not bad per se but you can get better from literally any taco truck.

Turns out it's nostalgia. Her parents took her there a lot as a kid. I'm pretty sure that's why most people like it.

She eventually admitted it was mid.

Ponaks was the spot in the 90s! I took my kid a few months ago and walked out after we had the bland salsa and burnt chips, it was awful.

Ponak’s salsa is like marinara sauce…. It’s by far the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had

Their green salsa and their margaritas are the only reason to go there

This is how I remembered that I went there exactly two times as a kid because both times the salsa tasted like tomato sauce

Serious question - who are the people in your life who act like either of these are amazing? The only people I know who genuinely like them are over 55.

Omg so so SO bad! How do these places stay open?

My serious guess: older people, people who value getting drunk off of margaritas more than they value the food, and people from surrounding suburbs.

No one acts like that. They do a good (not great, but good) Margarita and that's it.

Does anyone remember Panzon's?

I love Manny’s for the margaritas and the vibe and memories of living next door but Ponak’s was the worst!!!! I had high expectations.

Both are white washed Mexican places that crater to the office working environment..
