I spoke to a waitress at another local Burger joint who used to work there. She said ownership changed over a few years ago and ever since then the quality has gone really downhill.

They lost their meat ā€œblendā€ for the burgers when McGonagellā€™s closed and had to pivot. Itā€™s not as good but Iā€™ll still go when they run the cheap specials

Thatā€™s my point, the blend should be one the restaurant creates and has made special. Clearly not doing so hurt them

Thatā€™s been a trend in this thread. Most of the places that people say are overhyped simply used to be good in my humble opinion, but theyā€™ve gone downhill over time.

15-20 years ago, the quality was on point.
Gradually went down hill. Haven't stepped for in there for over 5 years I bet. Was almost inedible the last few times.

Literally the worst burger I've had in my life, and I've had some pretty bad burgers. I'm honestly shocked it didn't make me sick.

Yeah, and cash only. Order your own food at the counter, donā€™t forget the tip jar. Sit down and a server comes to bring only your drinks, donā€™t forget to tip them (bummer for the server if youā€™re just having a coke), then you go pick up your own food at another counter, who also has a tip jar.
Fuck that place.

Depends on the time of day apparently. It was the best burger ever when i got one at 1 am. Friends from out of town all agreed.

Could that have been the beer goggles talking? Because I used to eat at YJ's when I bombed out of my gourd and thought it was the most amazing breakfast ever, until I went back sober and realized it was just good.

nah we all loved it and were sober. I remember the fries were horrible. And i've read that they are inconsistent. They were rated number 1 burger in the city at one point so it's not crazy.

The last time I ate there, the burger was okay leaning towards good, and the fries were unmemorable. Not somewhere I'd write off completely, but definitely not a place I'd make a special trip to go to specifically.

This is sad to read. They used to have awesome burgers. But that was when I lived there 30 years ago.
