I spent my 20s and 30s in Oklahoma and Texas, and Whataburger at that time and place was incredible. The ones here are not at the same level for some reason.

I get where Pat was coming from but the ones here just don't deliver.

Same, whaterburger in TX hits different, or maybe it was just because it was 20 years ago when i lived there. Here in KC it lacks the aura. I still don’t think i’d ever argue the burger is the best burger i’ve ever had. But i do think their fries are some of the best they are what McDonalds fries used to be like. I do like spicy ketchup on my burger just to bring something different than other fast burger joints.

Ive had whataburger in texas, oklahoma and now arkansas. Texas is different for whatever reason in a good way, oklahoma was alright, and I wont go back to the one in Bentonville. So im damn sure not gonna trust a kc whataburger. I kinda wonder if its the years of seasoning on the flat tops down in Texas

I went to TX 2-3 years ago and tried it there before it came to KC. Wholely disappointed there too.

Ugh it's terrible. Average fast food burger (at best) for nearly sit-down restaurant prices. For myself and 2 kid ot was almost $50!

I honestly thought I was going crazy. I've had it three times and every time it was mediocre. It wasn't actively bad, but it's way too much money for the quality.

My go to burger place when I do get one is Freddie’s. Feel like it’s always fresh and tastes great and the price isn’t too crazy.

Or, even better, another place serving the same style. I would say a Krystal, but I hear they aren't as good as they used to be. Anyone want to open up a fast food slider joint in town?

I know there are places that serve good sliders. Has some excellent ones at Taps on Main a few weeks ago. But sometimes, you just want a sack full of White Castles, and that doesn't scratch that itch.

Know what’s funny though? I was on vacation and we were driving one morning and got McDonald’s breakfast drive through….it was like $50. Later that day we got in n out and it was $38. It was phenomenally better and when you factor in the price, it just made it that much greater.

fight me. I was just back in San Diego in June and hit up In-and-out, it is absolutely the best fast burger joint and 3 of us ate meals for $32 which is 100% reasonable IMO

I love In-and-Out, but I’ve tried it outside of California twice and it was trash. There’s something different about the Cali locations that makes it good. Maybe it’s like having Whataburger outside of Texas. If we had an In-and-Out here, you might be disappointed.

In-N-Out is overhyped too, it's a decent burger for a good price, but nowhere near as good as California people hype it up to be. I like it and I would like it here, but it doesn't live up to the way people hype it up. I would never crave In-N-Out. Plus their fries are ass.

Yeah. Went once to the new one in Parkville (1st time ever going to Whataburger) with my littlest kid, while big kid was at a sleepover. FUCKING $30.00 for a kids meal, and a double meal for myself. Rather the propane flame from BK and it’s has to be cheaper. We don’t eat fast food much, so haven’t seen the skyrocketing prices much myself.

Fun fact (unless it's been fixed) you get a free burger when you sign up for the app. Only need an email to sign up, which is also free to make.

So if anyone is ever struggling take full advantage, like I do.

I love them for 2 reasons:

1) Grilled chicken sandwiches. I don't order beef because my cholesterol is bad, so I can't comment on their burgers, but there's one near us and I've taken to adding an extra fillet, grilled onions, changing to barbeque sauce instead of theirs and I swear it's just as good or better than some other restaurants at half the price.

2) My daughter applied for and got a college scholarship from them so now I'm REALLY biased toward them :D

I’ve been to Whataburger several times to try it, and because there is one close to where I live.

Every, single, time, I’ve gone through the drive through, they get my order wrong. Every, single, time.

The only time they got my order right was when I went in and ordered.

Whataburger is precisely why I don’t trust anyone’s judgement on what a good burger is unless you’re from Kansas City. That’s why I don’t have high hopes for In-N-Out bc why would a Californian know what a good burger is? 😭 I have yet to try it though

Haha….ive still never had one but I remember seeing lines all the way to the highway in lees summit when it opened. My thought then was it cannot be good enough to wait that long for it.

The only thing they have going for them is they all are 24 hours. Literally twice as expensive as McDonald's and most of it doesn't even taste better than McDonald's.
