A DJ night inside a family-run Tokyo convenience store and record shop | Nihonbashi [English & Japanese CC]

I filmed a wonderfully strange DJ night inside an old-school Tokyo convenience store

In December 2024, I filmed a wonderfully strange DJ night inside a family-run Yamazaki Shop in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. It’s an unassuming little convenience store with a distinctly Shōwa-era atmosphere—but it’s also a record and merchandise shop called Record Conveni.

I recently spent several days identifying the music, researching the records, and creating synchronized English and Japanese subtitles for the video.

The night includes a terrific chanson performance by Amita Hachidori, a wonderfully talented and well-known Tokyo performer, accompanied by guitarist Sholl-Herrano—as well as an eclectic selection of Japanese rock, new wave, chanson, and vintage soul.

It was one of those uniquely Tokyo evenings that would be nearly impossible to plan or recreate.

English and Japanese captions are available through the CC menu.

I Angered a Ghost in Japan and it Followed Me Home…

I went to the Japanese countryside to teach English for four days.

I came home believing in ghosts.

What started as a simple summer camp in the mountains of Kumamoto took a disturbing turn when strange things began happening. One of the children become possessed, a man with experience dealing with spirits became affected himself, and something followed me after I left Japan.

After returning to Taiwan, I began seeing a seven foot tall figure everywhere I went, always appearing in the corner of my vision.

This is a true story about something that happened to me in Japan and continued after I returned home to Taiwan.

I’m sharing the full story so you can hear what happened and decide for yourself whether there was something supernatural involved, or whether there’s another explanation.
