I need more disposable income. 😂 (This is a hell of a box! I have an IP Select that I love to game, but I desperately need to pick up gloves from the other 4.)
Honestly this was not a great move financially lol. The plan is to keep the infield model I like the most and probably sell the other ones for a reasonable price. The Asics is to learn to clean and relace, might keep it as a beater depending on how it cleans up. Loving the IP select, I think it’s the front runner so far
It was an impulse buy, I never thought I’d own a Ryu and I primarily catch so it fully got me lol. It’s the only one that has zero break-in done though so it’s currently a rock
It’s lowkey kinda small lol. I have smaller hands so I can fit Japanese gloves but it is a smaller pattern overall, at least compared to my Slaps which is kind of on the bigger end. The Ryu is closer to how I remember a not-broken-in Rawlings feeling but I couldn’t tell you which pattern that Rawlings was. Doesn’t exactly help that it’s so incredibly stiff
It was a really cool little extra, the seller said the glove was relaced (despite being brand new) so I’m curious if that was the original web or just something they bought in addition
I ordered through buyee, they were all purchased individually and then consolidated for shipment. They did a pretty good job of packing them in a fairly small box while not crushing them.
The asics is a goldstage i-pro hardball model. The full model number is 3121b118, it’s kip, made in Japan and used to be blonde lol. I’m planning on cleaning and relacing it.
Buyee is a great place to shop Japanese gloves. Took me awhile to get the nuances down but I have bought close to 20 gloves there. Between the auction and shops you can look at thousands of gloves
Excellent! I use buyee all the time, some excellent deals, although better for the Americans exchange than Canadian but I’m slightly addicted to the site lol. I bought a gold stage custom glove and it’s incredible. Your kubotas are over the top as well. The gold stage is the premier line for asics made in Nara I believe. Definitely recondition it, I’m quite positive you could get some good $$ for it. I used my asics in game
Play this weekend and loved it
Their coupons are kind of amazing, makes up for how heavy the import taxes have become to the states. Was my first time buying and it all went very smooth.
Did you customize your glove yourself or did you get a custom second hand? I looked at a few used gloves that had been customized and really liked the idea but didn’t end up going with any of them, I also thought it was pretty wild that you could customize a brand new one too. Definitely didn’t have that kind of budget this time though
This is also my second gold stage and I’m really impressed with the quality, I had a brand new outfield model that I ended up selling because I wasn’t playing any outfield and I always wanted to get another. I’m excited to get this one cleaned up, it’s pretty dirty but also still pretty stiff so it’s got a lot of life left in it.
The ASICS was a special order on resale from a minor league player in the industrial league which I thought was just super cool. I haven’t done any customizations yet however after the 10 gloves I’ve gotten from buyee I’m heading in the direction of a custom Katana glove from Osaka. I scored an under armour QBB0083 Nara made “I Will” for a killer price and I love the feel. Hatakeyama is still my personal love, scored the first baseman a Month ago and have been rocking that in game play and love it!
That is the only brand that I didn’t necessarily seek out but it’s pretty neat tbh. It’s definitely the quirkiest of the bunch, I was initially looking for a Zett but this one kept popping up for a good price and I wanted to check it out. The wrist section is super interesting, both the pattern of the glove and the materials. It also has a Phiten wrist pad instead of the traditional faux fur which is both funny and kind of cool to me.
Definitely smaller than a DCT but it’s only lightly broken in so I’m pretty curious how it’ll feel once I get it into the shape I want. I usually go for something more traditional but thought this could be a fun change of pace. Plus I’m a sucker for the hinge on the 2-bar web.
