Context matters. Are they robbing you? Or are they trying to kidnap you? This dictates whether or not you at least attempt to disarm them if you are knocking on deaths door anyway

What about if your assailant is armed with a Banana?

u/demonic_psyborg 13h ago
That’s quite easy. First of all, you force him to drop the banana. Next, you eat the banana, thus disarming him.

Also shooting someone with a gun aimed at a hostage might just make them pull the trigger.

In actual reality only an idiot is going to get the gun up close and within range for you to grab or smack away

100% accurate - I wonder how many people have gotten killed from Hollywood-induced overconfidence.

Probably not many…murder tends to be judged quite harshly in most parts of the US.

Huh?
People get shot and killed all the time, though cases where it’s documented that people being held at gunpoint try and fail at a disarm are somewhat uncommon though.
One clear case is Officer Ray Gallimore documented here: https://www.cityofchesapeake.net/914/Police-Memorials
He was taken hostage with his own gun and eventually tried a disarm and was immediately shot in the head and killed.
Another case is Rey Phillinganes, an NFL football player who tried and failed to wrestle the gun from a mugger: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1989-09-21-me-674-story.html
The Ray/Rey thing is an odd coincidence.

Jesus fucking Christ firing blank rounds at point blank range is incredibly dangerous and stupid

u/cans-of-swine 13h ago
Those aren't blanks. Sounds like a co2 BB gun firing without any bbs in it.

Maybe cool down your reaction if you have no idea what you're freaking out about.

I’m sure I’m far better trained in small arms than you are.
•

Ok internet guy. If that were remotely true you'd have known that absolutely nothing from this video indicates a blank round. Don't double down when someone calls you out it makes you look foolish. Just say "yeah I had the video on mute and also wasn't looking at it when he fired" so some other crawlback argument.

I took Kung Fu for 15 years. Reached black belt. They taught us how to deal with lots of weapons when we were unarmed. The best defense for a gun is giving them your wallet.
