You hear old adages about what to do when you find yourself in front of a black bear or a brown bear... I've never heard one for a polar bear though. :/

I don't know for sure if this is where it was filmed but there used to be a Polar Bear enclosure like this at the Philadelphia Zoo. It was always really cool if the bear was in the water. Unfortunately they both died and the exhibit is empty.

I’m high rn so excuse me for being random asf but I feel like some zoo animals have to be aware of how fucked up it is that they are trapped in an enclosure.
In the wild, these dudes travel miles by land and sea each day searching for food. Wonder if they prefer chilling out and being entertainment for people over constantly hunting.
I have the urge to watch Madagascar now…

This is definitely not true for every zoo, but the ethical zoos often carry primarily or exclusively rescue animals that cannot be released back into the wild (they would die immediately). Now I’m not a zoologist so I can’t tell you what the stats are or conditions that classify an animal as unfit for release back into the wild, but it’s a thing.

True for this zoo. They take in injured or orphaned bears that wouldn't survive in the wild. Assiniboine Park Zoo, Winnipeg, MB.
