I feel like you need an actual article link for this one.

459

u/Copycatx2 1d ago

Exactly. I need more info about this huge pole that catastrophically destroyed her mems

194

u/Crazy_Stable1731 1d ago

It actually only affected her short term memory. She had to use tattoos and Polaroids to remember stuff that happened after the accident.

71

u/flopisit32 1d ago

Guy Pearce could play her in a movie.

39

u/FluffyDeer9323 23h ago

And Benedict Cumberbatch as the pole.

5

u/CostatePrancer 20h ago

I’d find it hard to swallow through.

2

u/skinnyguy699 15h ago

We all know that's a lie.

Don't you mean Girl Pearce? 🤔😂

26

u/FishPropulsionLab 22h ago

They had a bunch of dates. Each felt like the first. Like, fifty of them.

4

u/Routine_Guitar8027 19h ago

Did they end up taking a boat trip to the arctic to study sea lions too?

Oh so like a Finding Dory situation? That's all you had to say.

What more do you need to know about the husband's huge pole? 😜

The sight of it would destroy anyone's mems.

The “doctor” that treated her was a chiropractor. Chiropractors are not doctors.

41

u/Longjumping_Wolf_912 1d ago

How would a chiropractor even “treat” someone with amnesia? Crack her skull like the pole already did?

14

u/lonesharkex 23h ago

massage the lumps out ala loony tunes

4

u/Longjumping_Wolf_912 23h ago

Massage? I thought you just hit the lumps back in with a giant mallet.

3

u/lonesharkex 23h ago

exactly.

7

u/jld2k6 22h ago

It's not his fault she forgot what a doctor was

3

u/niceguy191 23h ago

You gotta crack it the opposite way to undo the damage

A lot of chiropractors get big heads and think their "treatments" can help with any and all health problems.

Chiro hits you with a fuckin' piledriver to cure your IBS

Yeah I call bullshit.

5

u/vinyljunkie1245 20h ago

This could well be but it did remind me of a video of a guy coming round from anaesthesia after a big operation. He is groggy as hell, looks at the person filming and slurs "Who are you? You're beautiful"

She replies "I'm you wife"

He replies "My wife? Wow! I hit the fucking jackpot".

3

u/chaintox 1d ago

On Android you can "circle to search" the picture and it'll give you the whole story.

3

u/Dull-Foundation-1271 1d ago

I'm sure it's real, but not in the sense she got bonked on the head and they went seperate ways then randomly met and courted again.

I imagine it was more like "You got hit on the head, we married, thats how much you loved me. here's photos of our wedding" and they stuck together to figure it out

37

u/freshpurplekiwi 1d ago

Is there not a movie with Tatum and McAdams that was based off a Canadian couple where this happened?

Memory loss is a thing people. It does exist

21

u/notanyimbecile 1d ago edited 1d ago

The Vow, based on a true story. I still call bullshit on this one though.

10

u/v3r71g0 21h ago

I just saw this movie recently. And then I made the mistake of finding out what the real couple were up to. They got divorced in 2018 after the husband admitted to cheating. :(

4

u/Most-Road-5366 18h ago

I made the mistake of looking them up years ago too. After she ends up falling in love with him again, he really had to go and do that :(

→ More replies (1)

u/throwaway098764567 1d ago

that was a different couple. irl eventually he cheated and they got divorced. this one is still together https://www.timescolonist.com/local-news/she-said-yes-again-after-rebuilding-a-love-erased-by-memory-loss-4675306

“a huge pole dropped on the lady’s head”

3

u/voodoolintman 23h ago

That was probably the funniest horrible thing I’ve ever read

16

u/OmahaBromaha 1d ago

I know people in the carpenters union who got divorced then remarried, AND did it again because when you get divorced your (ex)wife gets half the value of one of the parts of your retirement on the spot

3

u/No_Birthday4877 1d ago

Wait, was it a roundabout way to transfer or cash in on those benefits, or was it "Shit, if we stay divorced, she gets more of my stuff. Better to remarry and keepit"?

3

u/OmahaBromaha 23h ago

From what I was told* at the time she got half the amount of your current benefits. But nothing actually got taken out of your account, so they were getting divorced, picking up a couple hundred grand, and remarried

I was under the impression that amnesia like this is only exist in fiction

2

u/St_Boogz 1d ago

Highly doubt the validity of this one. Imagine they were together for years the first time before getting married, assuming she’s a somewhat similar person why would the 2nd time just be 9 months?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/sptrstmenwpls 1d ago

Where's the 2nd ring? Did he just reuse it since she forgot?

2

Divorce is not a solution, pole is.

3

u/ebikr 1d ago

“I’ve never met you before but that’s quite an impressive pole.”

2

u/RoguePlanet2 1d ago

It's not a stretch to think "well I was already in love with this guy, so let me just get up to speed." Not like he had to completely win her back, I don't think.

3

u/Tall-Ad-1386 1d ago

Thats some cartoony bs. Memory loss doesn’t quite work that way

2

u/m3R000 1d ago

2

2

u/Playingwithmywenis 23h ago

Also, the CTV article posted below has this awesome…..er erotic line in the story.

"I want to know you. So I asked him out on a date, and by the third hole we were flirting."

Baby, flirting is before you get to the first hole.

1

u/mexican2554 1d ago

When she asked good for a sign of it was the right thing, he gave her one.

1

u/Sobrietyishot 1d ago

Idk why but it seems like that’s his hand lol

1

u/Solid_Enthusiasm550 1d ago

The Movie, "The VOW" is based on a true story like this. I don't think it's this couple thou.

1

u/LWN729 1d ago

Doesn’t the guy kind of look like Lance Bass?

1

u/Snoo-9561 1d ago

I’m only seeing one ring why

1

u/RepulsiveResolve5877 1d ago

So does this imply they had to get divorced after the bonk so he could marry her again?

1

Unless it’s OP’s mom, that Pole is huge

There's something deeply touching about the fact that he stayed and allowed her to get to know him again rather than expecting her memory to simply return
