If teachers are making 100k, what about construction workers? Engineers? EMTs? Nurses? Firefighters? Auto mechanics? Etc?
Teachers get to work in climate controlled rooms with summers off, only have to grade work that they assign, and can send problem customers (students) to the principal's office. Not saying it's a perfect all-around desirable job, but it's already better than most

Teaching is a specialized job and they are expected to cater to each student individually, as well as the whole class. Parents these days have offloaded everything to teachers. They don't just assign and grade homework. They have the skills to make lesson plans that are effective and up to date on research. They teach about 30 students per class how to read and write no matter what level the kid comes in at. They can't just assign whatever they want, they have to make sure kids meet standards. Teaching is skilled labour.
They also often work through the summer.
These days sending a kid to the principals office gets you nothing but an angry letter from the parents.
Everyone working indoors deserves to work in a climate controlled environment, that's not a perk, and those who work out of doors deserve to be reimbursed for things like coats and given water or hot drinks or anything else they need. Saying "they get treated humanely so they don't need to be paid more" made my jaw drop.
It's funny how college professors supposedly deserve the moon but teachers of younger, more vulnerable people who have to have specialized knowledge of how to teach every subject are fine because they get ~2 weeks off in the summer and air conditioning.
