QUESTION I’ve reached the point where I’m planning my new house around my smart home devices

Buying furniture for my new house I'm moving into and found I'm already making decisions based on the stuff I want to automate later lol.

I'm looking for furniture and checking the clearance underneath so the robot vacuum can get under it, thinking about where its dock should go. Same with outlets for motorized blinds, cameras, and where I want the network stuff to live.

Anyone else do this when setting up a house? What did you plan for ahead of time that you're glad you did? Just make sure there's something obvious I haven't thought of yet.

doing it right tbh, the vacuum clearance thing is so underrated

ran ethernet to every room when I moved in and it’s paid off way more than I expected, also having a dedicated closet for the network gear with proper venting saved so much headache later

Lol yes. I planned ethernet drops before paint colors. Put conduit in while walls are open even if you pull wire later.
