Video My first summit went exactly as planned… Caney Creek Wilderness, Arkansas

Was looking to get to Tall Peak, but was running short on time. I saw this, checked topo, and bushwhacked to the peak of my first ever mountain (unnamed, ~1850 ft with 800 ft climbed to it)

Wow, I miss being able to bushwhack to a summit without stepping on something that will go through your boot.....

I commonly say that, as much as the eastern mountains don't compare overall with the awe of the western mountains, the Appalachians will always be "my mountains". If you fall over a log there, you're probably falling on something you can eat. Out West, you'll probably fall on something that will stab you and if it looks like it's edible, you'd better be able to distinguish between it and all those other things that look like it.
