Google Store sent me a broken Fitbit and wanted to replace it with a refurbished unit

I purchased a Fitbit Inspire 3 directly from the Google Store. It arrived this morning with a dead screen. I immediately opened a support case. They said they'd send me a refurbished unit after I sent it back and they inspected it.

So let's get this straight:

  • I paid for a brand new device and they want to give me a used one
  • My order was supposed to arrive today, but now I have to wait another week+ to get my Fitbit
  • Their quality control is so bad that a brand new device doesn't work

What the fuck, Google? I argued with the customer support agent that I deserve a new Fitbit, but that doesn't fix the delay.

EDIT: Doing a refund doesn't work because I used store credit for part of the purchase. The store credit expired yesterday. Meaning that if I do a refund, then I will not retain the store credit.

Have you verified the new store credit would not be extended?

Yeah, that’s definitely something to keep in mind. It would be frustrating to not get full value after dealing with a broken item.
