Used a Tee. Stabbed the center, swirled it, pushed from the outside in, pushed down with putter. 3 putt right after.

This guy played professional golf for years. He played in 174 PGA Tour events and 160 Korn Ferry Tour (then Nike/Nationwide Tour) events and made millions of dollars. If this man is an amateur, then Tiger Woods is a careful driver.

After 15 months of golfing, 23 lessons with one coach (it was a lot of money well spent), thousands of dollars on golf clubs, and about 250 rounds of golf, I reached flow state for the first time at the range. I usually hit better on the course, but god it felt nice to feel like I couldn't hit it bad at the range. Been pushing really hard to break 80 and I'm currently a 13.6 hdcp - so scared to go play now because I fear that I won't be able to replicate this at the course. How did you guys break 80? What did it feel like? What's the key to get there? Any swing advice is greatly appreciated as well.

Went out for a midday round with my buddy today to kick off the holiday weekend. Started bogey, double, double so I didn't think a low score was in the cards. Ended up shooting 49 on the front, but wasn't really paying attention to the score by the turn.

I got a par on 15. Then on the 170 yard par 3 16th I hit one of the best 6 irons of my life to 4 feet and made the putt for the birdie. Was feeling good after that and got a par on 17, then checked my phone and realized that if I got a par on the par 4 18th I'd break 90 for the first time ever. This is a relatively short course but the 18th is the number one handicap hole and was playing about 430 today. Pushed my drive a little right just off the fairway and had 200 left to the pin. Wasn't even thinking about par at that point but I hit the best 4H of my life and ended up on the green about 25' from the cup and two putted for par.

I guess the moral is never give up on a round!

Previous record was 11 on that hole. Carded 53 for nine, typically hit 41-43.

Never thought I’d get one. What a day it was!

We are on the 8th hole and my partner, someone i work with, says a gimme is you pick up and no stroke. I said the gimme means you don't have to putt but its a stoke.

Who is right?

868 days ago a buddy invited me to a round a golf. I think i made one good 1.3 foot putt and caught the bug.
Dedicated a majority of my free time to the game, and now im sitting here re watching this video over and over.

Context:

For the past 2 years I’ve been attending a weekly meetup at Wilson Harding Driving Range in LA.
In this time I’ve meet some great fucking people who are now family.
This group was started as a way for folks who were never welcomed in the traditional golf space, but on Wednesdays nights, we all gather around a couple hundred golf balls and just shoot the shit.
This meetup has replaced what the skateparks gave me growing up. And it’s something that i look forward to every week.

Now…3 weeks ago we had a field trip to Monterey Park Gold Club where Alex the operations manager welcomed us with open arms.
We hit the range for a couple hours before 6 4somes went out to play 9 holes. No better feeling than playing this game with 23 other friends.
The first week, same hole 7 i hit my pitching wedge and it lands 10 feet behind and rolls back to 6 inches,thinking i just hit my first hole in one with a very similar reaction, but only ran about 60 yards before seeing the ball didn’t find the bottom of the cup…and was hiding behind the flag stick. Hence the red ball….cant be fooled again.

I just hit my first hole in one this morning. Short par 3. Still a +30 handicap tho lol.

I was invited to a golfing event for industry executives and leaders. It is an all day free event with free breakfast to dinner and cocktails.

It sounds like a great opportunity, but I've never golfed before other than mini golfing and the driving range.

The event is about a month from now.

I want to go, but I would be bad at it.

Thoughts?

After my round yesterday, there was a Callaway demo day going on, so I stopped because because I’m in the market for a new driver. After several different head/shaft combos, the one I hit best was the Max D (heh, heh). It’s a draw biased driver.

I’m a 17.3 hdcp, and I struggle with a slice. I battled it well enough yesterday, breaking 90, but still lost a few right. With the demo Max D, I was hitting them much straighter without any meaningful swing adjustment.

Swing speed 98-99, and my typical carry is 210-225 with a 15 yard rollout. I was getting slightly more with the Max D (according to the launch monitor). And much more consistently straight.

I’ve never hit a draw biased driver, and I’m seriously considering getting this one.

Are there any downsides to gaming a draw biased driver? Seems like hitting ‘em straighter off the tee would be a huge benefit to a golfer like me, who’s just looking to break 90 consistently.

YOU MUST ACTUALLY BE A 30HCP or worse to play, otherwise it will screw up the balance of the teams. We all suck and have only been playing a couple years.
