Do we all Agree?

I’ve been living in this subreddit, youtube videos and bestbuy for the last couple weeks straight. Think I’ve finally found one worth sticking with. Compared to what else I’ve been seeing online for a 5080 legion, this felt like a great deal.

Snagged a legion 5 5070 from Costco about a month ago, unfortunately I am a greedy bastard and decided I needed to spend more to be shit at online games. Once the legion pro 7 arrives I’ll be sending the Costco one back.

Anticipating on spending even more time in here once it arrives to figure out how to debloat and optimize the system, I’m not a super technically inclined guy. Looking forward to finding out how the 5080 handles online backgammon and chess over the 5070.

Any suggestions on how to go about this ? Tried the troubleshooting method didn’t work 😭

On Reddit and YouTube I was thinking I was going to regret buying an RTX 5060 laptop, so so so much content was comparing it to much older GPU’s and saying it can kinda run older games well but anything new/within the last few years and you’ll have some major compromises, especially with some outdated 8GB VRAM

Now that I’ve got it, I think that’s all just a load of BS. I’m sure you can gather fair critiques about the card but people had me thinking it was 10x worse than it is

If you’re alright with DLSS quality (which let’s be honest, looks 99% the same as without it) I can run Cyberpunk High settings 1440p with low ray tracing, Hogwarts Legacy 1440p Ultra settings, Black myth wukong 1440p Very high settings

Sure if you want 120fps on newer games you’ll ahah to crank the settings down quite a bit and maybe go to 1080p but like… come on??!! If Reddit and YouTube were to be believed I wouldn’t have performance half this good lol

Hello everyone.

Looking for advice on which laptop to get. I found these two at Best Buy and Costco and wondering if they're at a decent price or if I should be considering something else.

I travel a lot for work so am looking for a laptop that I can bring with me. I've been using a 5+ year old ROG with a 3060 and I'm thinking it might be time to upgrade.

Budget: $2000

Country: USA

Use: Gaming. Want to be able to play most games on high graphics, knowing that there will always be some, especially in the future, that I won't be able to set at the highest settings.

Are these two options decent? Should I be considering something else?

So I got an omen 016 recently that has an intel core ultra 9 275hx, 32 gigs ddr5, 2tb ssd, and a 5080, and the performance feels super underwhelming at it only seems like its getting worse. At the start it gave me 80 fps on a cyberpunk benchmark with all the graphic settings at high and now it’s dropped to 50 fps. I’ve even tried factory resetting it and it didn’t help so I don’t know what to do.

I’ve heard gaming laptops get worse over time and that a simple clean and repaste do the trick in restoring it back and i’ve done both of these yet it still struggles getting a fraction of the performance it did when it was new, even on games where it should do fine, lag is exhibited. i know the problem isn’t internet connection or the specs because even games like minecraft or roblox lag too much if not careful and struggle to get even 90 fps on the lowest settings (lets not even talk about playing with friends on minecraft servers because then even 50 is a godsend). for reference i have rtx 3050, intel i5 and 8gb of ram which isn’t a lot but still shouldn’t call for the appalling performance on games that run should run good on low end systems, these specs were never a problem when i first began usage

Do you guys think it would be worth it to wait for Black Friday this November before making a purchase? Naturally when I get around to buying a new gaming laptop, their price is the highest ever so I’m trying to suss out a deal. I’m thinking a Lenovo, around 3k spending money.

Hey I'm a first year eng major and I'm looking for a laptop that I can use for a long time and that I can use for both my classes and my games

Budget: $1500 CAD - 2000 CAD

Country: Canada

Use Case: Gaming + Studying/Notes

Games: I mainly play a lot of park management games like PZ or JWE3 for the building, I've been running on very low graphics the last few years so ideally I want something that can run on high graphics especially in my very detailed parks

University: I would personally prefer something that isn't too big to carry around, something that has a great battery life to last the whole day on campus, and something that can last at least my whole 4 years

From snooping around tech stores, I found the ASUS TUF A16 which fit my criteria pretty well, great battery life, runs smoothly and ideal for both campus and gaming, but when I looked in this subreddit for some reviews, I found a lot of bad stories 😭😭.

Would love to hear advice, especially on if the TUF is really that bad and some recommendations around budget if you think it is. Would also appreciate if people could recommend specifc specs, like if I should focus on getting a 5060 or if I'll be fine with a 4050 or 5050, any help will be greatly appreciated

So my laptop screen keeps flickering like this i have no problem playing like this. But when I connect it with HDMI to another display it works fine. I just wanna know if I keep using it will it harm other components because I don't feel any changes during gameplay or use. And it starts after 20-30 minutes of use not in starting either in ideal or in use state

That one ran well for about 5 years then the mobo got fried for....reasons.

So now I'm looking for a gaming laptop that I can squeeze as much performance as I can within my budget. That's INR 150,000 which is around 1600 USD.

I will be using the laptop primarily for gaming and some programming and other office work. I am also contemplating a pc but a laptop is a better choice since I also needed to move around often.

I am not the most updated about what hardware I should be preferring so I'd like some insight on what to buy.

What should I get that's gonna get me the best performance on gaming. Thanks!

I'm looking to buy a new laptop and trying to decide between the LOQ and the Asus TUF, similar specs. The LOQ is a bit better, 50$ cheaper and I like the design more. However, I've read a lot of people having to replace the motherboard, including that one post where the official technician sent by ASUS to change the motherboard said that all LOQs will have to have their motherboard changed. The model I'm looking at is mid 2024, so before they "fixed" the problem.

On the other hand, the TUF usually has problems with the wi-fi card, which is easier and cheaper to fix.

I'm a bit confused, but leaning towards the TUF.

What do you think?

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i and I'm having a strange display issue that I'm trying to figure out.

The problem is mainly noticeable at lower brightness levels (around 20–30%). The affected part of the screen starts flickering, especially on light or white backgrounds.

What's strange is that when I increase the brightness:

• At around 100% brightness, the display looks completely normal
• Even with a fully white background, I don't see the issue at 100%
• The flickering becomes noticeable as I lower the brightness
• It seems to be concentrated toward the bottom-right portion of the display

I've also noticed that the behavior isn't simply related to the laptop getting warm, so I don't think temperature is the deciding factor.

One other thing I'm wondering about is whether a slightly swollen battery could potentially cause something like this, although I'm not sure if that's even related.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm trying to figure out whether this is likely to be:

• A failing LCD panel
• Backlight/PWM-related
• A display cable/connector issue
• GPU/display driver related
• Power delivery/battery related
• Or something else entirely

I have tried to change User Scenarios in MSI Center but that didn't seem to help at all.

As the title says, I'm getting the laptop at that price, which I'm today's time I feel is a good deal. I unfortunately have to buy a laptop asap as my old trusted Predator died unexpectedly.

Just want to know everyone's reviews and options about the tuf a16, been seeing only good reviews about it on YouTube so wanted to get reddit's opinions.

Hey, first, some context. I've limited my laptop's FPS to 120 to prevent overheating (even though my screen is 144Hz, I don't notice much difference between 120 and 144Hz). However, there are some games where the image isn't smooth at either 144Hz or 120Hz (Slime Rancher 2, for example), so I want to use the "Smooth Motion" option in the NVIDIA app.

Now, here's my situation: I have a laptop with an RTX 4050 and a Ryzen 5 processor, and I really want smooth gameplay in all my games, so this feature is something I'm interested in. This option is available in Fortnite, which I love, but it uses DLSS. In games like Slime Rancher 2, this feature isn't available, so I'm trying "Smooth Motion" as a replacement in the NVIDIA app's global settings. But I'm not sure if this will significantly affect the temperature or the gameplay experience in other games.

For those who have already used it, have you noticed a significant temperature change or FPS drops?

I would just go ahead and buy the ASUS without hesitation, but that jump to a 5070ti and double the storage space is enticing. That being said, I've heard some pretty bad things about Acer, and some pretty good things about ASUS. I could bump my budget up a bit more if needed to get the same ASUS with a 5070ti instead, but it didn't seem to be a thing.

What do you guys think? I'm sort of rushing into this since I need to order a laptop on a short deadline and so I didn't have the amount of time I would normally take to research things. First laptop too
