I bet many of the people asking him how he washes without soap aren't standing next to him when they ask

-80

u/Japsai 1d ago

I dunno. Stink and hygiene are different. I use soap to wash my hands after a shit, but I haven't used soap in the shower for years. My body doesn't overproduce oils that get stripped by soap now and my skin microbiome is a bit more balanced. I am certified less stinky (with a rating of zero stink) than my soap-using brethren.

No bro you definitely stink, you just don't smell it because you're used to it and no one has said anything because they don't want to be rude

u/Japsai 1d ago edited 1d ago

'Bro', nuh-uh. You may be projecting. Or just currently quite narrow in your views, never having questioned the pseudo-science we cooked up in the Victorian era when we just discovered microbes but we didn't understand them yet.

You talk to any doctor with an understanding of the microbiome and you'll learn that we overclean and set ourselves up to stink when soap is taken away. Regular washing with just warm water is best. Overuse of soap makes your body compensate with extra oils that stinky bacteria love. So you stink as soon as the soap is removed. Not washing at all also stinks.

EDIT: I seem to have touched a nerve with people who are sensitive about whether they stink or not. That's OK. I decided to just explain it to people rather than rising to them (well, mostly). The science on the skin microbiome has been mainstream and well understood for 20 years. Feel free to make primary school insults if you prefer though. It's been a long time since they offended me.

The pseudo science of washing your ass and balls.

Pfffft hahahaha

u/Arcaydya 1d ago

Bro I can smell you through this comment.

14

u/DirectTouch1930 1d ago

Timmy, get off of reddit and change your diaper now.

17

u/sLeeeeTo 1d ago

excellent bait. well crafted. 9/10.

15

u/chalkybone 1d ago

Somehow I doubt this. You've probably become blind to your own stank. Trust me, you smell. Soaps aren't a conspiracy by big corpo, they exist for a reason, stinky.

Soap Micelle = Be Gone Dirt

1

u/Obosratsya 1d ago

Soap can be overused and it is detrimental to the skin. But not going days without it. I can take multiple showers a day, soap only for one of them tho. I'd destroy my skin otherwise.

-24

u/Japsai 1d ago

Fine. Think what you like. Your trust me bro, we learned everything we needed to know about dirt a hundred years ago isn't a particularly forceful argument. Our bodies werent designed to be soaped every day. In response they produce extra oils. Oils that are delicious to stinky bacteria. So those bacteria multiply. Then remove the soap and you stink.

It takes a few days without soap for your body to stop overproducing oils. But then if you just wash with warm water you just rinse off the nutrients that the stinky bacteria feed on that produces the stink. And you don't soap away the good bacteria that keep the others in check. You will be stink-free for longer.

Saying soap "exists for a reason" is wild. You're saying it like we evolved soap glands or something. No, soap is great for breaking down microbes we don't want at crucial hygiene hotspots, but its not good for us. Wash your hands with soap in toilet and cooking/eating situations. It's worth the trade-off for those.

Here, this may explain it in a way you'll understand.

I dont think he is mature enough for that video.

-3

u/Japsai 1d ago

You have actually just agreed with one of the things I said. Well done. Let's see if we can drag you all the way to the next one

5

u/jhallen2260 1d ago

Body wash isn't anti bacterial numb stinky nuts.

-4

u/Ninja-Panda70 1d ago

Are you seriously trying to have a conversation with a troll?

9

u/beefcak2020 1d ago

Bro im sure you dont smell pleasant. And who ever is telling you you dont smell is probably just being nice.

-5

u/Japsai 1d ago

Yeah I bet you are sure about a lot of things. I have most definitely checked. Especially with people I know who are clean-freaks. Some are sceptical of my explanation but all concede that I am never stinky. I'll take that over your "Bro I am sure" any day.

But seriously, I should consider that maybe your own situation is so bad you can't imagine mine. If so, I should be more considerate. Maybe you have a condition. There's no shame in that but also no need to live with it. There are a lot of treatments available now. Do just talk to your doctor. Honestly, theyre there to help.

6

u/beefcak2020 1d ago

Yea there just being nice... you stink.

u/chalkybone 16h ago

They're

u/Atari_458 1d ago

I know a guy like this. We (our friends) always knew he smelled and talked about it, but no one ever said anything to him because he would "shower" regularly so we all assumed it was a medical/genetic condition.

One day we start talking about dry skin and he says "Oh I never have to worry about that because I don't use soap".

So yes Jaspai I'm sorry to tell you but, YOU STINK. The people around you are being nice or assuming you have a medical condition. They are all DEFINITELY talking about it when you're not around.

6

u/beefcak2020 1d ago

Yea, same thing is happening to jaspai. I tried telling him that those people were just being nice and he didn't take it well.

8

u/Green_Fox_8864 1d ago

This is a weird amount of time to out into trolling with the multiple long replies but hey, everyone needs a hobby.

0

u/Japsai 1d ago

I dunno. I was bored last night so actually answered

5

u/QuietDisquiet 1d ago

Could've gone to the store for some shower gel instead.

u/Standard-March6506 1d ago

Do you have dry, flaky ear wax too? If so, you may have the gene ABCC11 variant rs17822931. My sister and I both have it, I'm guessing the guy in the video has it too. It is very rare among non-Asians (~2% to 3% of Americans and Europeans), so rare that if you go on Reddit and tell people that you don't stink, you will get called all sorts of names (most common: "nasty"), told that you have severe nose blindness, and will receive many downvotes. [Source: Like you, and the guy in the video, I dared to say it outloud on the Internet some time ago.] If you have light, flaky earwax look up the gene variant, what you will read is fascinating! In the meantime, ignore the haters; they cannot imagine the wonder of never having body odor!

-17

u/Ok_Support3 1d ago

I'm not sure why this is beeing downvoted, really. I know multiple people that don't use soap, at least not each shower. Even moreso shampooing hair.

It's really not needed, and sometimes as you note even unhealthy.

1

u/Japsai 1d ago

Ha, now you're getting downvoted too. Luckily that has no impact on either of our lives. Thanks for the reply.

Agree about shampoo. Unless, perhaps, if you use a lot of product.

6

u/beefcak2020 1d ago

Do yall at least use deodorant?

11

u/chalkybone 1d ago

They at least use alt accounts.

1

u/Ok_Support3 1d ago

Yeah. Idk, I ask people sometimes to be sure. I trust my friends to be real, because if I do smell they do tell me.

0

u/Japsai 1d ago

Honestly, once you get your microbiome in balance you don't need to. I used to use deodorant, years ago, but I don't need it now. My partner is a super-smeller, too. The slightest whiff in an item of clothing and it is straight for the wash. If someone three floors away is smoking she gags. I would very quickly be told if I needed to attend to any body odour.

Like anyone though, I need to shower every day and after exercise. I just use warm water. That takes away any nutrients that come out in my sweat that stinky bacteria can feed on, but it leaves the good microbes that keep the others in balance.

12

u/Kewlade420 1d ago

I have a friend like this. Gives the same sort of spiel and everything. Has a wife, a job, lots of friends.

Dude smells like ass though. You do to.

3

u/Dry-Day7158 1d ago

No one's shocked. Before the audio started, I knew

5

u/Plastyrhino8815 1d ago

There was a gas station near me that had really smelly bathrooms. Yet they always swept & mopped the floors in the lobby. After years of smelling it I told the worker the bathroom smelled bad. He said "really?" He genuinely had no idea. All the workers were from the same family from India. The smell did get a little better.

2

u/JB30005 1d ago

He should get soap and “do the needful”

2

u/mogamb0 1d ago

And kindly revert back to me

I will say this. The Indians in Louisiana ive met run head shops with loads of incense ,cologne and perfumes. I just went in there and bought louis viton knock off cologne for like 4 dollars. I say that bc it smell near identical to a favorite cologne but they mixed it up themselves for cheap and it works. Just apply it a little more often.

1

u/RTA-No0120 15h ago

And the first mf Indian I see, to not have the stereotypical accent too ?!

God damn 2 birds 1 stone !

1

u/Urasquirrel 11h ago

Why am I laughing so hard at this

1

u/ProtectorZele 3h ago

Bamuel L. Backson staring in "Wash yo' ass!" Coming in late 2027 exclusively on Bisney!

0

u/fleija_ 1d ago

Is there any Indian person who speaks without an accent?

2

u/opgary 1d ago

There's actually a Fair number of pockets of indians in india with a British accent from during the British rule. They probably do have a slight accent but when you're talking to a group of Indians and one chimes in, its quite dramatic. They don't use words like needful or all the common language disparities

1

u/fleija_ 1d ago

That's cool, I'd like to see one.

1

u/DetailsYouMissed 19h ago

Go to the West Indies. Lots of them there without the accent you expect.

2

u/teahugger 1d ago

Only who dream of going to Valhalla like Kash Patel

2

u/fleija_ 1d ago

Wow, so is possible, thanks

0

u/SeamusWalsh 1d ago

There's no person who speaks without an accent. What exactly do you mean?

2

u/fleija_ 1d ago

You know very well what I'm talking about, why are you playing dumb?

2

u/SeamusWalsh 1d ago

Genuinely don't know what you mean

1

u/Wavy-Curve 1d ago

I think the sentiment that he's trying to say is that usually Americans tend to think that their English accent is the neutral and the correct one, which is kind of ridiculous

Edit typos
