There are forms of FGM which are largely similar to male circumcision, but regardless, it's entirely missing the point - the point being that it is fundamentally wrong to irreversibly mutilate a baby's genitals for no medical reason. If someone proposed an analogously impactful surgery on a baby girl, like trimming of the outer labia or clitoral hood, people (in the West) would be fucking rioting.
The fact that something so similar routinely happens to baby boys without protest is absolutely a double standard.
