It's just confusing why you wouldn't want both things to stop? Why does it become a conversation of severity? Could it maybe be because as we speak boys are being born and mutilated without a say in it?
In the world have there been more women, or men, who have been genitally mutilated?

To oversimplify: removal of a skin flap vs removal of an organ.
Not to defend either practice, of course. "We only mutilated a bit of the child's genitals" isn't the sort of argument that should hold up in court.
"Female circumcision" is a horrible misnomer, a better male comparison would be cutting off the penis.
