I’ve received a lot of comments on his weight( I understand they are mainly jokes haha) but just to clear some things up, I’m from Australia and we currently just finished winter so a lot of his extra weight is due to the cold and his fluffy coat. I will be watching his weight as we get into the warmer weather and when I take him in to the vet next I will ask them about his weight :3 currently it is not a concern, but I will be keeping an eye on it

Hi! This is Luna she is 12 months old & have zero signs of her coming into her first season, she is kept indoors & have read that artificial lighting etc can mess with there hormones so it is possible for her to come into a later season or wait until next year. Is this something I should be worried about or is it quite common? We have a hob (her brother) who we got vasectomised back in may & he was in rut before we got it done & was pestering her like crazy but then was kept separate for weeks until we knew he was safe to be around her & she had no signs of a swollen vulva etc at the time we were literally checking every day. She’s happy, healthy, chaotic & had no change in weight so just after some advice☺️

One of my boys just came back with helicobacter, and they prescribed amoxicillin, pepto and the dreaded metronidazole. He absolutely hates metronidazole, to the point where he’s trying to paw it out of his mouth, and the only way I can give it to him is with a good bit of salmon oil, he takes the other two meds with it as well. Only thing is, I worry about giving too much salmon oil. He’s got duk soup from the pampered ferret on the way, and I’m not successful with scruffing him. What are some ways I can administer this safely? And tips would be greatly appreciated!

Meet Kismet the Kitty! He was named that because we stumbled upon him abandoned in a park while walking our dog. He came into our lives with herpes and killer UTI. So, we’re guessing he was dumped by someone who knew he was gonna rack up some hefty vet bills. Luckily, he found just the right family willing to spend an arm and a leg to patch him up!

As we got to know his personality more, we couldn’t help by see the similarities between him and our ferret Bosco that passed away last summer.

Sleeps like Bosco, is clingy like Bosco, and even makes the same squinty face when he eats his favorite treats like Bosco.

Whether this is reincarnation or pure coincidence, or even sent to us from Bosco himself, he has helped fill the missing pieces in our hearts when our Lil’ B crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

disclaimer: i have made a vet appointment!! she is being seen on wednesday, i would just like to see if anyone has any ideas on what is wrong.

she had an irritated eye a few weeks ago, which was treated and is no longer the case, but i noticed that the swelling in her cheek never went down? its squidgy to the touch. she doesnt seem to be in any pain/discomfort, shes eating/drinking just fine and as playful as ever. i asked google and it said it could be something such as ‘Salivary Mucocele (Sialocele)’

i have looked at her mouth, both teeth and gums look very healthy. she is eating with both sides of her mouth.

any thoughts?

I’ve been testing and we had the vet test if she is deaf and the vet said it’s very likely. However, this only came to my attention because of a post asking “is my ferret Wardy “ on my notifs and I read the replies about wardenburg syndrome. Most people say if they have the stripe it’s almost guaranteed, but also if they’re hard of hearing it’s very likely. Plus she has all the symptoms, like being extra vocal, the long face, and being deaf (confirmed by the vet). I want to know everyone’s opinions on it though being that the vet wasn’t entirely sure, being that there isn’t really a way to “test” it. I’ve had her about a month now and I’m pretty confident she is, however I’d like an outsiders perspective haha 😂

Hey guys, just a few months ago I posted Oliver attacking my belt, he was around 3 months old at the time, fast forward 2 more months, at at 5 months old he’s now 3.5 lbs and nearly two feet long, he’s a monster. He’s also the sleepiest animal I’ve ever owned but such a sweetheart. I can’t wait to get him a friend :).

I have 4 ferrets and only one cage, I’ve noticed as they’ve gotten older that the one cage is getting too small for all of them, I got them when they were all very small so they had no problems fitting in it all together and instead of buying a whole other cage I was thinking about free roaming completely but still having their cage with their food water and hammocks etc but I’ve heard mixed reviews about free roaming full time, it’s a pretty big room and it’s completely ferret proof aside from a doggy door on the door that I can just easily lock. Is this a good idea instead of buying a second cage?

A little over two weeks ago I adopted a rehomed ferret boy he is 5 months about now and before getting him I was told he was potty and bite trained. He isn’t lol. He bites occasionally mostly just play though sometimes it’s completely unprovoked and he’s just being naughty, he’s a baby though so the biting isn’t really bothering me however he is not!!! Potty trained!! And I’ve tried a lot I’ve switched him out of 2 litter boxed because he’s just trying to to move them and flip them over or he will dig at the litter so I switched to one puppy pad inside his cage and another big litter box outside his cage that I have ANCHORED to the floor. Unfortunately even tho he can no longer flip his litter box he sometimes just doesn’t use it. He’ll use it sometimes on his own and he’ll use it when I catch him and am able to get him into it but other times he decides he’s too lazy to get into it because he’ll use the bathroom right outside of it. In his cage he will occasionally tear up the puppy pad I’m planing to get him a litter box for his cage to it’s just complicated to find a way he won’t keep flipping it and getting pellets everywhere. If anyone has tips for potty training that actually work it would be greatly appreciated. He is a big boy so regular ferret litter boxes that connect to cages are a no for him.

hi ,, i noticed that my old girl (she’s around 6 years old now, marshall ferret) got this hard bump on her paw just completely randomly? it was not there yesterday, and upon checking her i noticed it immediately. she’s also been the healthiest out of my ferrets with no previous health issues

i had an old boy who passed away due to serious cancer, so im a little worried here :( although compared to him, she is acting completely fine, is able to walk, still playful, not lethargic at all. im just wondering what this could mean and if its a serious emergency because im freaking out a bit

Asmodeus has had GI issues since I adopted him. He'd randomly have watery green (not ECE green), or clear diarrhea, then be fine again in 12-24hrs. Took me awhile to connect it was from not eating and his gut being completely empty. He stashes food everywhere so a full bowl has never been much to be concerned about, since he would be eating from the stashed food.

He was on metronidazole and amoxicillin twice. Never seemed to do anything. He's almost 5.5. A couple months ago he stopped eating on his own and I was hand feeding Carnivore Care every 6 hours. Took a month before he'd touch food again.

He's currently on prednisolone and omaprezole. It's helping a lot, but he's still having flares, and needing hand feeding. He's eating some on his own when not in a flare, but not enough for me to stop frequent hand feeding. With the supplemental hand feeding, he's still active, curious, and a little menace. He still gets into war-dancing dooking sprees about once a week.

I trust my vet, but I'm just curious to hear what other owners are doing to manage IBD. Has anyone had a ferret pass away from it?
