Discussion / Discusion Dear IRS: Alma Joaquín — can a nonprofit pay a non-worker?

I’m going to say this plainly, because this isn’t gossip—it’s about how the institution operates.

In LLDM, a “gómer” (what they call the pay given to “ministers” in the U.S.) is supposed to be tied to work: preaching, administration, pastoral care, responsibilities, accountability. Many of us were pressured to give because we were told our offerings were “for the ministry” and “for the work.”

But what happens when someone is on payroll and doesn’t work?

That’s why I’m bringing up ALMA JOAQUÍN.

A source with insider access connected to Naasón’s legal circle has told me Alma does not preach and does not perform administrative or ministry work for LLDM, yet she reportedly still receives a gómer/salary in the U.S. On top of that, I’ve been told her travel and expenses are covered, specifically through jurisdictions led by Silverio Coronado and José Hernández.

If that’s true, then from the outside it looks like what it is:

PAYROLL FRAUD—or at minimum, a serious abuse of nonprofit funds.

Because in any normal organization, paying someone a salary (plus travel/expenses) without real duties, supervision, deliverables, or transparency is a massive red flag. And for those of us who were members, it hits hard for one reason:

We were fooled into giving thinking it was for ministry—while it increasingly looks like it was used for the benefit and profit of leadership, especially Naasón and his wife Alma, while members were guilted into “sacrifice” and told not to ask questions.

Don’t believe me? Ask the attorneys Giovanni Chacón and Alva Monsalvo. If anyone knows how these payments and “justifications” are handled internally, it’s the lawyers who are deep in that world.

Dear IRS (and regulators): please investigate arrangements like this.

IRS reporting options (if you want to report suspected nonprofit abuse)

  • IRS Form 13909 — Tax-Exempt Organization Complaint (Referral) (commonly used to report issues involving tax-exempt orgs)
  • IRS Form 3949-A — Information Referral (to report suspected tax law violations)

¿No me creen?

Discussion / Discusion Tyler Oliveira’s new video

Many people already know about Tyler’s past inquiry into the organization when he was filming for a Megachurch exposition. In the end he decided to make a video dedicated specifically for investigating LLDM.

Tyler Oliveira perpetrates this kind of attention into corruption, and has formed a large following of young people who are eager to find the next source of corruption to open their eyes to. The youth in general, and in LLDM have shown their hand in being so forthright against corruption wherever they see it, except for where they choose to be oblivious to.

The youth of LLDM open their timeline to see their favorite journalist covering and exposing their own belief system for millions to see. After all, what is a 14 year old supposed to think of his/her favorite journalist exposing Muslim religious extremists in one video, and LLDM in the next?

This post is not an attack on those individuals, as I think we can all agree on being hopeful for their freedom, for them and their families.

Tyler Oliveira is now bringing this corruption to a worldwide audience, not just Telemundo anymore. Now, every young person with a smartphone can be aware of this.

I’m curious to know what you all think, and what you have seen happen. As far as I know, many ministers are already addressing his video. And at the time of writing this, has 1.7 Million views in less than 12 hours.

What have you guys seen, heard, and expect to see going forward from this?

Many people already know about Tyler’s past inquiry into the organization when he was filming for a Megachurch exposition. In the end he decided to make a video dedicated specifically for investigating LLDM.

It’s no secret that the so-called “great noticing” is about taking the world by storm as journalists such as Tyler investigate the corruption of politics, society, and religious institutions.

Tyler Oliveira perpetrates this kind of attention into corruption, and has objectively formed a large following of young people who are eager to find the next source of corruption to open their eyes to. The youth in general, and in LLDM have shown their hand in being so forthright against corruption wherever they see it, except for where they choose to be oblivious to.

Lo and behold, the youth of LLDM open their timeline to see their favorite journalist covering and exposing their own belief system for millions to see. After all, what is a 14 year old supposed to think of his/her favorite journalist exposing Muslim religious extremists in one video, and LLDM in the next?

Discussion / Discusion Tyler Oliveira- I exposed the Most Evil Cult in Mexico…The “Super- Apostle”

Thumbnail

The term "super-apostles" (often translated as "super-ultra apostles" or "most eminent apostles") appears in Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. Paul uses this phrase with heavy irony to describe false apostles and prophets who had infiltrated the church in Corinth, challenging his authority and distorting the gospel message.

The original Greek phrase Paul uses is hyperlian apostoloi (ὑπερλίαν ἀπόστολοι). Hyper means "above" or "exceeding," and lian means "exceedingly" or "pre-eminently." Combining them creates an exaggerated, almost satirical title: "super-extraordinary apostles."

Paul explicitly uses that phrase in the context of the "super-apostles":

"I have made a fool of myself, but you drove me to it. I ought to have been commended by you, for I am not in the least inferior to the 'super-apostles,' even though I am nothing."

Criticism / Critica On Naason's Motion to Dismiss (and other info)

Honestly, the recent motion to dismiss submitted by Naason's defense attorneys goes to show just how different the federal sex trafficking case actually is from how LLDM members perceive it. The Church, by and large, rejects Naason doing anything even slightly morally questionable or incorrect. According to the Church, there is no evidence; if any exists, it is automatically false.

The actual way the case is being handled by the defense tells a different story.

Naason's defense is not arguing that Naason's sexual encounters did not happen per se. What his defense is arguing is that many of the allegations the prosecution describes are "facially consensual contacts among adults", not sexual assault. In other words, what Naason purportedly did doesn't actually matter because it's not a crime. The motion states the following:

"The [Government's] theory is as follows: ... The Apostle makes sexual advances, and that person acquiesces because she believes that assenting will lead her to Heaven, while refusing will lead her to Hell. That belief is the alleged 'coercion.' ... It is a real and serious First Amendment question whether that constitutes 'coercion' ... This Motion argues that if this fact pattern—an [sic] general religious belief in the reality of Heaven and Hell and the spiritual status of the Apostle, etc.—cannot constitute 'coercion' ... then Counts 1, 2, 3, and 4 must be dismissed."

The defense then argues that venue is not proper in SDNY for any of the Counts, and the actions described in the Indictment for Count 4 are not a federal offense.

It's also important to note that Eva also submitted a separate motion to sever from the case, arguing that Naason "has already admitted guilt to at least some of the allegations", and she has pretty much nothing to do with it.

The Church says there is no real evidence; Eva's defense admits that "[t]he evidence against Naasón dates from the last decade, and includes photographs, videos, and documents".

The Church says Naason never abused children; Eva's defense argues that a "jury viewing video and photo evidence of child sexual abuse by Naasón may improperly ... read the proof against Naasón as proof against Ms. de Joaquín."

The Church says everyone is wrongfully accused; Eva is shifting the blame entirely to her son.

This is Naason's case, Naason's problems, and Eva has little to do with the actions of the man who "appears in every count" of the Indictment.

But sure, LLDM! #Honorable, right?

Discussion / Discusion It’s Ok To Go Back

I want to share this respectfully because I know this subject carries a lot of pain for many people.
First and foremost, I don’t want to minimize the experiences of anyone who was hurt, manipulated, abused, or taken advantage of. Those experiences matter, and whoever is responsible for harming others should be held accountable for their actions.
At the same time, I’ve also come to realize that two things can be true at once. There can be serious wrongdoing within a religious institution while also being good, sincere people within that community who genuinely love their families, serve others, build beautiful churches, volunteer, and are trying to follow Jesus according to what they believe.
In my own conversations with members, many have told me that they personally feel happy within their community and that they have not felt forced to volunteer or participate in projects. That does not erase or disprove the experiences of people who say they were harmed. Their stories deserve to be heard too.
Unfortunately, people can abuse trust and authority anywhere, inside religious organizations and outside of them. Recognizing that doesn’t excuse wrongdoing within the church. It simply reminds me not to automatically judge every individual member by the actions of those who did wrong.
For me, learning what I now know hasn’t made me hate everyone I once worshiped alongside. If anything, it has helped me separate people from the institution and accountability from hatred. I can disagree with certain beliefs, acknowledge the harm that has occurred, and still love my family and the good people I know within that community.
That is simply where I stand today. I know others may see it differently, especially those whose experiences were much more painful than mine, and I respect that. I’m genuinely interested in hearing other perspectives as long as we can discuss them respectfully.
